I find it rather telling that you put your own quotes into a line with a quote from Cassius Clay ...

Those things do not make you a carebear.

Carebears are people who hate any kind of setback or challenge and will refuse to do anything for themselves and demand the removal of anything that will negatively impact them.

I'd say it depends on your wardec corp's ISK efficiency. If it was over 90-95%, you were either very lucky, very awesome at PVP, or you weren't taking risks.

In that case I wouldn't call you cowards, but careful planners. Slightly carebear. Lol

Yes quite sad. Worse though is an affliction known as "nullbear syndrome" in which the afflicted produce so little testosterone that they can only 'pvp' against ships with weak defenses and a complete inability to return fire.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

I thought nullbear syndrome prevented them from hitting any buttons except ctrl, f1 and left mouse?

Pew-Tard shamelessly stolen from the Dust forums just after fanfest. Inbetween beating the crap out of LogiBro they were ranting about the PC-Tards over here who were laughing at them.

Turbo-nerd is pretty much all Eve players tho. Might be a compliment to some. Eve Nerds = better than other nerds.

Remember I'm not talking about PVPers generally. Just those, you know the ones, everywhere has at least one. They play for 20 hours a day, probably don't wash and are usually in the top 100 on some kb. And have really annoying voices and sound about 12 (despite probably being older). All I can think of for these are ~~~~Lord. Battle-Muppets? Emo-monkeys?

Like the 'challenge' presented by pitting you and 10 of your buddies against some lone miner or the constant whiny buzz of 'nerf highsec' that bellows constantly from the blue doughnut because it 'negatively impacts' the blue doughnuts desire to blast defenseless ships in highsec.

I hear ya brother those people are such weak sauce players they definitely dont represent what EVE tough is all about and should probably go play WOW instead.

Carebears are anyone who PvEs. Carebears are not bad in their own. Many, and in fact most forms of care bearing are perfectly acceptable within the eve community. Having played other grindey mmos I have a natural distaste for players who try to turn Eve into WoW, so I dislike highsec miners and find highsec missions distasteful, but any player who does other things alongside this is fine by me. Lowsec bears are cool dudes. Wspacers at least take some risks. Its only the players who completely hide I dislike, although I take every opportunity to reform them that I can. I used to ninja and gank, but I've mostly moved out to lowsec, so I offer advice to bears who are trying to reform themselves into Evebears

Two days ago a miner I'm friends with was linking me a bunch of frig and dessie kills, made with his lowsec mining barge fleet. This guy is the antithesis of a carebear miner, he will destroy the living daylights out of you, and end your futile attempts to kill any of his mining buddies in your shoddy gankship.

The fact that someone, or several someones, wasted enough of their life thinking it was important enough to define the term "carebear", and then doing so ... is a very sad commentary all it's own.

As the legendary William Shatner is once alleged to have screamed at a fan during a Con : "Get out of your parent's basement and get a life ! "

Carebear is a term used by those who are incapable of nuance, too blind to recognize the importance of non-pvp activity, and too cowardly to admit that everyone does it. It's the fundamental unit of troll-speak.

Carebear: Anyone who does everything they can to avoid ship-on-ship PvP and...
- proceeds to whine about being "forced" into such a situation (usually on the forums and/or to the developers)
- refuses to learn from the experience and adapt accordingly

So you can be an industrialist or miner or missiong runner... but not be a "carebear."

A carebear is nothing more than someone who wants no player-driven conflict in the game; we should all be able to play the game in harmony with no one making any bad wrong fun at others expense. A carebear is not necessarily risk averse because a carebear is often willfully ignorant of risk by virtue of thinking such risk is illegitimate. Thus, carebears engage in such braindead behavior as autopiloting a fully loaded freighter to Jita durring a goon holiday.

Beyond that, it's basically an indescriminately lobbed insult against those who others believe are not PvPing in the "correct" manner.

Personally, I think this discussion can only move forward with classification of the various carebear sub-species. This is not a complete list of course, so I welcome additions of any omissions...

Null-bear: Often seen roaming nullsec running sites in Isk-tars, running from combat with other players while denouncing pvp'ers in the forums from all other regions.

Petition-bear: Clogs the arteries of petition-flow to the GM's like Doritos and trans-fats in the bloodstream, filing pointless (or more aptly tear filled) petitions that are often in the genre of 'someone blew up my ship and I was in hisec'

Nerf-hisec-bear: (See Petition bear) Uses as his 'weapon of choice' the EvE-O forums instead of petitions, spouting heresies against holy HTFU by calling for nerfs to various forms of non-consensual buttsex..er..agression.

Fail-bear: Occasionally seen suiciding himself by CONCORDOKKEN, or by grabbing loot from jetcans or wrecks and not pre-aligning a warp out. Occasionally dies to belt rats.

Pedo-bear: Prefers to mine and mission run with younger unskilled toons.

AFK-Bear: Often seen AFK in an exhumer in an ice belt, being dry humped out of mining range by the holy operators of CODE

Sperg-bear: Rails in local about the UNHOLY CARNAGE HE AND HIS CORP OR FRIENDS WILL RAIN DOWN UPON YOU..rawr! Remains docked while doing so.

White-Knight-bear: Can be seen orbitting the gates in systems ganking is taking place in, pilling onto the demise of a suicide ganker already being taken down by CONCORD and patting himself on the back, while fapping in the 'Anti-ganking' chat channel with other White-Knight bears.
