Legion Ornament Shine Fix

Currently, the Legion has 2 different kinds of shine states for the ornaments:

Mud Legion - Gold Legion

While some people certainly enjoy a mud fight, I for myself find it very disgusting that Amarr ships are coated in mud. Instead, I would very much appreciate if all Legion variations would shine in the warm golden and sand tones.

The bone-bleach tone of the base color on the Mud Legion is not much a problem, but the pale, mud-brown ornaments are absolutely discomforting.

Entirely dependent on the light and intensity of the sun in the solar system. That's what we got with the new dynamic lighting that came in with Rubicon.

And I love it.

It also gives the Tash-Murkon, Sarum and Carthum Conglomerate ships a wide variety of appearances based on the sun in the system and your relative location to it. Really makes you feel like you're flying in space, and not just shoving a board piece around on an empty 3D map.

Except for it's not. Look what is on the screenshot. Blink Dynamic Lighting has nothing to do with this disparity, except for that it introduced it.

Disparity comes from the angle.

Stick it in a station where the lighting is static and oversaturated, all subsystem modules have the same color.

Edit: Hold on, something weird is going on. Post your PC specs and in-game settings.

Further edit: The shiny pic you posted is what I see everywhere, all subsystem combinations. The muddy pic is what I used to see during one of the Rubicon patches before they straightened out the dynamic lighting to be what it is.

Do you play on SiSi at all? I think you've got some mismatched art files.

It is the exact same angle in the Ship Preview window, there is no different lighting there.

Another player in my alliance also has both Legion variations with the proper golden shine. Ugh

Yes, I do play on Sisi. However, my Sisi client is in a different folder (not a sub-folder in the TQ client folder).

Did my best to reproduce your images.

Your muddy pic

Your shiny pic

You've definitely got some old art assets that haven't been updated, as evidenced by the difference in ship size between my DS pic and your DS pic in the top left. The Dissolution Sequencer subsystem is slightly darker but still keeps the distinctive Amarr appeal in my opinion while standing out from other subsystem setups, and part of the change in contrast is due to the differences in ship size. Ship size controls how close the camera pans in, and the dynamic lighting truly is dynamic. Semi-reflective objects become dimmer the farther away you move from them, since they are not producing any lighting of their own and the reflected light is diffused more thoroughly.

Think of how a tinted window is harder to see through the further away you are from it.

Edit: Clarified where the difference in ship size was to be seen.

Well, even you have this kind of strong difference between the two Legions. Your muddy pic's ornaments are not golden, they are brown (clearly seen in the 2 bright spots at the middle and towards the end of the ship's left side), compared to real golden shine at the same bright spots in Your shiny picture.

I doubt that this is caused by the minor zoom in. And actually the Your muddy pic's brown tone is what we saw right after the introduction of the Dynamic Light feature. The size difference, however, is very strange. Shocked

Now the question is: How do I get rid of the presumably old art assets? And why is it still there to begin with without the client complaining that I have different files than the reference? Ugh

Delete and reinstall is the only thing I know that would work 100%

There is a repair tool in the launcher settings under the Eve client settings tab. If that doesn't work first, I'd bite the bullet and do a full reinstall of your TQ client.

The difference isn't actually that big and is largely due to the 50m (10%) difference in ship size. Put both of them in a station and it looks roughly the same color. It's kind of like the difference between Bronze and Bronze that's oh so slightly oxidized.

Blame the camera, not the ship.

One, this is a bug, and this is the wrong place to report this.
Two, I just tried to reproduce it using the steps that your provided and max visual settings.
Three, I did not yield the same result.

To expand upon number one. Bugs should be reported in the issues and workarounds board or reported via the ingame bug report tool. Said tool is located via the help menu. Also, just as a side note. If you ever encounter an exploit only use the bug report tool to report it. Publicly posting those is a bad bad idea.

So ... I had some fun today (finally). I deleted all .Cache-files and all .STUFF-files and downloaded the full 6.1GB package again. However, even after this the Legion still has this very different look. Any way to fix it or do I really need to completely uninstall the game?
