I was only mentioning how a scammer can avoid posting in the corp recruitment channel by directly convoing people. CCP actually does investigate recruitment scams and does take action if there is an add in the channel. In my case the did not.

As also mentioned in my first post i learned my lesson and moved on. Some players don't and this is why they quit.
No need to get angry about it or take it personally. If you are finding people being amazingly bad then perhaps reassess your post which is most definitely erroneous

Another case in point. Somehow I'm 'angry' and my post 'erroneous' lol. Yet, Of the 2 of us, one has never been scammed. Do you think no one has tried to conv/scam me in the last 7 years of my EVE life loo? I'm not angry, I'm dismayed at the idea that grown folks (average EVE age was stated and 27 or 28 last time CCP mentioned it) could be this clueless.

The same people who can't figure out a video game are the people voting in elections in Western Countries lol.

The point is (and this is reinforced by your response here) is that where you see a 'game problem', I see a 'personal problem'. YOU didn't do your homework, and got had for it. EVE isn't just any mmo, and the 'shiney space ships' that attract people are nothing more than game play tools.

The people who quit after getting scammed (of ganked) shouldn't have been playing in the 1st place. They should have taken a look at themselves, realized that they aren't mentally suited to a cutthroat environment, and choose another game to play.

EVE is no more 'dangerous' than a padded room is you are alert, aware and smart, it's a freaking lion's den if you are sloppy or dumb.

Goonswarm recruiting to kill there new members and take some of there stuff???
So today I was looking for a Corp which was in null, and that I can help support with my 8 accounts being a huge industry guy and all. A couple days ago I was invited by Lyeni of Outer World Industries [-OWI-] in Goonswarm Federation. Made it sound interesting in joining, was really just wanting to get into a corp with a settled Null system and continue playing the game and make billions a day again. However that was not the case with this story. Instead they had me pack up some things send over X via contract to haul over join the corp and jump my freighter out. Then I was tackled and killed and podded, they wanted me to eject ( lols ) I didn't. My total lose at the end of the day roughly 4b. Yes that is a good amount of money, and well I guess I was not cool enough for the Goons of EVE, it means little. Could I have prevented it? maybe if I wasn't so trustworthy idk?

Just thought I should share my story for the day for all to laugh at, or learn from or whatever you want. Life goes on and I will make my isk lose back in acouple days doesn't really matter when you have 8 accounts, just a shame I couldn't join.

Sorry to read you had a poor experience with Outer World Industries. Feel free to contact me in game about joining Enlightened Industries and we can get your remaining assets safely & securely deployed to our space.

Judging from your tone, it's no wonder that you feel eve is a lion's Den. It can definitely be a hostile game to get into but i don't see how your opinion matters on who should play this game or not. Just because eve is currently a game that makes you happy and obviously attached to it as you defend its state so ferociously, does not mean your word carries the definition on how it should be in the long run.

See guys, i was right, this guy is just about everything I've ever talked about on these forums Big smile

EVE isn't a Lion's den for those who are aware. I typed that in plain English. It's a lion's den for folks like you.

As for my opinion on who should play the game or not, it is not common sense? Should a person who hates WWII era armored combat play World of Tanks? Should a person who thinks that Elf's and mages and being able to turn into a bear is stupid play WoW? Should a hard core communist subscribe to a game called "Reganomics Online' (lol)?

If a game doesn't make you happy, why play it when other games exist that might make you happy? That's why people like you are absolutely exasperating to folks like me lol.

But the part I bolded tells the ENTIRE story here. It suggests that you think EVE should be some way other than it is in the future.

Why? Why should EVE cater to people who can't Google? Why should EVE change because some people (hell, most gamers) are incapable of being honest with themselves about who they are (thus making them unable to make informed entertainment software and pass time choices)?

Just tell me why dang it Twisted

The Goonswarm recruitment scam is nearly old as EVE itself. They only recruit from the Something Awful forums. If you are not a member of that and not recruited from there it is a scam. They offer to move your stuff it is a scam.

EVE Rule No1 Trust no one. 100% percent of the victims of scams, corp thefts, intel leaks, alliance thefts, and awoxings violated it.

Is it possible to make a sticky about known scams that new players should be aware of?
Could be really helpful for new players

Ok, you can get them to use this;

EvE is a game where, if you are not paying attention, you WILL get scammed.

Does that work for you?

Including elaborate scams from the recruitment channels such as finding your LF corp message and convoing you so that there is no way for CCP to track them down by their own add?

NO

Happened to me and CCP did absolutely nothing.

Many, many new players including myself joined Eve because of shiny spaceships, not because they wanted to research how to now get scammed in a new MMO. Its just something people generally don't anticipate as acceptable in an MMO because in-game scamming is generally not acceptable in other MMOs.

This isn't another MMO and is explicitly advertised as being a dystopian world filled to the brim with villains. HTH.

Welcome to Eve.

I try to be nice and mind my business just shooting lasers at rocks. There is just way too many asshats in New Eden for that to happen.
