Let me first start off by saying I know I messed up and I am stupid for doing X and trusting them. But hey you live and learn and that's part of EVE and there's always tomorrow.

Goonswarm recruiting to kill there new members and take some of there stuff???
So today I was looking for a Corp which was in null, and that I can help support with my 8 accounts being a huge industry guy and all. A couple days ago I was invited by Lyeni of Outer World Industries [-OWI-] in Goonswarm Federation. Made it sound interesting in joining, was really just wanting to get into a corp with a settled Null system and continue playing the game and make billions a day again. However that was not the case with this story. Instead they had me pack up some things send over X via contract to haul over join the corp and jump my freighter out. Then I was tackled and killed and podded, they wanted me to eject ( lols ) I didn't. My total lose at the end of the day roughly 4b. Yes that is a good amount of money, and well I guess I was not cool enough for the Goons of EVE, it means little. Could I have prevented it? maybe if I wasn't so trustworthy idk?

Just thought I should share my story for the day for all to laugh at, or learn from or whatever you want. Life goes on and I will make my isk lose back in acouple days doesn't really matter when you have 8 accounts, just a shame I couldn't join.

Goonswarm don't need new members you would think, and you would be right.

Goons are the kind of people that will never amount to anything in their real life so they have to pretend like their badass in a video game. In other words, the scum of the Earth (and New Eden).

Do you actually believe this horseshit? Or is this some kind of RP?

I'd say that he rather does not believe that Goons RP being scum, but rather are that both in real life and in game. I disagree with him, but then again, my exposure to Goons might have been rather different than his. And... not all Goons would admit RPing, because they fear the stigma of the word needlessly. I myself RP'd being NCO in the army when I was promoted to that post. I am far from being leader of any sorts, but I managed to pull it off quite well. Now that was quite a LARP experience (I do call army as LARP camp with occasional live ammo).

I knew we weren't getting the full story from OP. Thanks for setting the thread straight.

Your name is apt friend. Eve punishes the ill-informed quite severely.

Leaving Highsec is as simple as clicking the jump button, but it's not highsec you need to escape. It's the carebear mentality. Stop hoarding ISK and resources and start interacting with the community and learning about the game. Noone cares how much ISK you make in a day or how fast you can make it back. If that's all you take away from this experience than I am afraid you are doomed to be a slave to your wallet (and by extension hi-sec safety) until you unsub out of boredom.

If anything you should thank the Goon who wrecked your wallet for freeing you from slavery and showing you the sandbox.

My 2c anyhow.

I will agree with this even though a very similar incident happened to me a few months ago with the goons. I got hit by the sandbox and realized the game then wasn't for me. But i needed my eve fix and when i returned recently i decided to become more detached from my wallet and more of a part in the sandbox itself. After being a carebear for a long time i finally got my first 2 killmails yesterday, even though i wasn't able to contribute as much as i wanted.

Having said that, and not believing all goons are bad people there is a certain disposition within the Goonswarm Federation which promotes scamming, Un-sportsmanship and most definitely a leak of ill-behavior in real life. Eve is a game, yes but the emotions generated from it are quite real and resonate outside it as friendships can be built and broken, as well as people being cheered or frowned upon...Or even worse.
A prime example of this is from the CEO of the Goonswarm itself at the 2012 Fanfest, with a link to his live speech here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbYNLmtAMAw.

Again, i am not saying all goonswarm members are like him but i like to say in eve what say in real life "Show me your friends, i'll tell you who you are". What each person makes out of it is up to them

OP: Welcome to the sandbox

Even I know that they only take people in by referal or by being a member of Something Awful for more than three months.

It's like a secret society, or the freemansonry! I heard they even have hazing rituals for new members! And secret meetings! And they use funny hats during those meetings! They even encourage their members to do recruit scams actively just to make membership super exclusive!

You're wrong. Newbies are a much beloved protected species within Goonswarm, and we generally don't target newbie pubbies either. See, we actually understand that a bumbling cute newbee today will turn in to a battle hardened jar-headed bee with time and cultivation. Not that you'd know, since your own corp has a 60 million SP minimum requirement and many others within your coalition have 50 million SP minimums.

You know, I've encountered real and i mean real life actual bad people in my life (and not just due to my job, when i was a kid there was an actual honest to God cross burning near where I lived) and I'm not butt hurt enough about it to sling 2nd grade insults from behind the double anonymity of an npc corp alt on a video game forum lol.

Goons are not magic, you're playing a video game with guns, if you don't like them stop being rather....feline.... about it and kill them if you don't like them. I do .

It's interesting to see people talk bad about tens of thousands of people,
dismissing them all as being the same.

They did that back in the 30s, too.

You should be hunted down and removed from the game, you sick freak.
