Gate Guns vs. Security Status

I have a quick question regarding the relationship between gate guns and the security status of the system that I can't seem to find an answer for. Does the DPS or the number of gate guns vary depending on the security status of the system? In other words, if they start shooting you, do you receive the same damage in a 0.4 system as a 0.5 system as a 0.9 system? From what I have dug up the DPS of the guns seems constant, but does the number of guns vary depending on the system, or, is the damage constant everywhere?

If anyone can provide clarification it would be most appreciated - I have some "business ventures" in mind that may result in me being on the receiving end of the gate guns wrath that I want to run the numbers on.

I'm pretty sure there are always exactly 2 gate guns in all lowsec gates. Don't know if there are dps differences, though.

You receive the same damage in 1.0-0.5 systems (six or eight guns per gate, I'm not entirely sure) and in 0.4-0.1 systems (two guns).

BUT

You have to keep in mind, that these guns are ignoring completely your resists, so you always get the same amount of damage. From one gun, of course.

Many thanks, this is the information I was looking for. So as long as I have a sufficient buffer to tank the guns, I can just worry about the effect of the system security on CONCORD response time.
