Why're Link Ship Available In Low Sec?

Hi everyone,

I been a low-sec pvper for nearly 3 years now. I never understood why link ships, such as: Loki, Tengu, Proteus can actually be used in low sec. It's a place where small gang warfare is meant to happen. I feel that command ships really ruin the fun.

The problem is, I see more and more players exploiting this. They won't go anywhere without bringing their link alt with them. As you might not know, this makes a simple t1 frigate become a true monster.

Furthermore, there are some systems in low-sec that everyone and their dog is linked up. It's just crazy!

Don't get me wrong, I understand their uses in null-sec. Where people fly bigger ships and in larger numbers. But in low-sec where many times it's 1v1 or small gangs fighting each other, it just doesn't make sense. It makes any guy without much effort or knowledge about pvp become overpower.

I feel that CCP should take a look at this. I suggest one, their effects are greatly reduced in low-sec. Or two, their effects don't work in low-sec just like bombs.

I know this will blow your mind but you can actually use link ships in highsec as well.

I know that but I don't fly in high-sec and sure when I mean low-sec, I also think they shouldn't be used there. Else, it wouldn't make sense.

The ships used as an example have a multitude of other uses too.

FYI T3 Cruisers, which are the examples you used, aren't command ships. Command ships are T2 Battlecruisers, the T1 Battlecruisers can also fit links as can the Orca, do you want them removed from lowsec too?

edited because I derped on who I quoted

Because there is nothing special about lowsec (or about link ships) that would provide any kind of reason to not have them there.

Sure they have, just like a bomber ship can use torpedos and not only bombs.

I remember ccp planning a year or two ago to make links have to be on grid. What ever happened to that? Links should have to be on grid.

Because bombers have links? Yeah, no.

And bringing up the “e-word” just makes it even more silly. Using ships precisely for their intended purpose is not a matter of exploitation. People using those ships for those intended purposes is a pretty nonsensical rationale for reducing their effects.

Lord Fudo if they did that, it would actually be great. It would require the link ship to take some risk. Instead of being glued to a gate and ready to jump as soon as anything comes in.

Well that was just a comparison. What I am saying is all ships have multiple uses.

Now there is something wrong. When a dude trains an alt and then goes around with his main character linked up to the teeth beating the living heck out of everyone. Probably, you don't agree with me because you do that. But I personally, don't feel like you need to train alt for that purpose just so you can decently fight someone.

How you play in low sec doesnt define what it is supposed to be... I have lived in low sec for the last 7 years and I have had my fair share of 50 v 50 battleship brawls and even some 100+ vs 100+ battles. The only thing that is wron with links is that they boost off grid. But the simple counter to that is to bring a prober. A link ship can be destroyed by something as simple as a destroyer. And links wont work if he is cloaked or in warp from you. If you want 1 v1 , go to high sec and can swap...

Also... 2 people beats 1 linked anytime in a "1 v 1"... As your enemy is using 2 accounts, so should you in the comparison. Links are only really powerful in large fleets.

I agree with you about being on grid. That's exactly the change they should make.

As it is, it's not that simple. People usually glue their link ship near a station ready to dock up as soon as something bad comes. Or, near a gate ready to jump.

CCP will implement it the moment they have figured out how to do it. Seems to be a lot harder to do than they thought.

I agree 100% and while we are at it can we have quest givers with question marks who give us sp for killing 15 bunnies? I also would like a /dance emote that would be super sweet.

I also would like to see only consensual pvp and when you die you only just faint and you respawn from the station you last logged out in with all your stuff. And if we get in trouble in a mission we can yell guard in local and Concord will come kill your rats.

Next patch needs a new panda race also they were hiding in jove space. They also need to have mounts for our ships like a giant dragon or something. Scamming should be bannable.

Ban isboxer users and due away with gankers. You should not even be able to target haulers and indy ships. And we need to rename the game to world of evecraft.

You can change most of your look for free,
but one can't buy good taste.

Have fun with your probably soontobelocked redundant thread. :)
