Why does the expanded probe launcher need so much CPU?

Did someone say that a Heron with a EPL gimps its fit?

Its fit to do... what else, exactly

And in regards to the Condor comment, I think you will find a Condor cannot tank while doing its primary purpose in any way at all (except hull or speed), so by your measurement it is gimped

I've also managed to fit an expanded launcher onto quite a few ships that are not typically thought of as scanning ships, but I wouldn't claim that means it's not a problem. Without seeing your "fully functional" interceptor, I'm going to guess it has about it's entire low and rigging slots dedicated to CPU.

No... but overdrives, tackle, mwd and a cap booster.

That was before cpu rigs too... and the ares is the best interceptor for pulling it off.

Game mechanics are my friend.

If you want to scan down booster alts you need to buy an extra account.

Make faction war occupancy pvp instead of pve https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=53815&#post53815

Well, it would be nice to have some alternative to a T3 when it comes to a scan-tackler. Just something to bring some variation to the whole "T3 or go home" meta in w-space.
But I suspect CCP will just nerf the cr*p out of T3s at some point instead of spreading their capabilities to other ships...Ugh

I don't really know what all this sperg is about. The expanded probe launcher fits perfectly on the Hyperion. A ship that gives you beastly Gank, Tank & Drone options.

Cry Less and Hyperion More!

In some people's minds, fast tackle seems to equate to cannon fodder, but I think that's a matter of fatalism more than game mechanics. To my mind, contact scout is probably the most skilled position in a fleet, which may explain why so many baddies die attempting to fill the role.

If you think a ship that does no DPS, has no tank, has exactly one damage mitigation strategy, and all the electronic, physical, and capacitor resilience of a medium scout drone is "fully enabled", there's probably no middle ground for us. To me, that's gimped. I can't imagine what a fully enabled destroyer or battlecruiser looks like to you.

Okay. This OP tops the crybaby scale. I thought the E1 fanbase had a lock on that, but this is so petty as to make the internet moan in agony at the bandwidth loss. Train up for a ship that uses the scanner, dummy. It won't fit on your suicide ganking dessy. I guess you realize that now.

Scanner tackler. Have you people lost your minds?

How is being wholely incapable of finding the enemy a petty issue? How can there even be a game without the ability to find the other players? The real question being asked is "How much should I have to sacrifice for the ability to find my opponent?". If I can't even field a decent fitting on a ship that is specialized for scanning, doesn't that constrain us to play the game a certain way versus if we were able to decently tank a combat probing ship or fit it to effectively strike targets or fit it to disrupt an opposing fleet in preparation for a full blown engagement, etc.?

You're acting like that isn't 100% intended.

I'm exploring the implications of the status quo, whether it is 100% intended or not. The original post is outright questioning why it is intended.

We know how the game works. The question is why should it work that way (and what does that mean in terms of gameplay).

I didnt realise Buzzards were hard to train

Or that the the Heron should be buffed so hard as to make the Buzzby obsolete

No, the original post is a whiny, hand wringing, inanity.

Even the mildest ability for introspective thought should provide you the answer to this.
