Van Persie is such a beast. Absolutely amazing game of football. I hope England does that well against Italy in their game.

Just noticed Ghana is in Group G, and I kinda feel for them now, knowing how good they did all things considered last World Cup. Now they're stuck in a group with Portugal, Germany and the US, where there's virtually no chance of them getting out of that. I might just buy a Ghana jersey out of pity.

I'm in Madrid, but I was born missing the chunks of the brain that makes people appreciate football, spectacle sports, or identifying / rooting for a team, so I couldn't care less about this whole world cup business.

Yesterday though, I was minding my own business at home, laying on the couch by the window enjoying the evening breeze, when ghoulish moans and screams started to creep up my window, intermittently. I hadn't realized the world cup had started yet, nor that Spain was playing already, so I was entertaining the thought of some form of zombie apocalypse or another befalling us, while my neighbors were being dismembered and devoured.

No shooting zombies today though: 5-1, that explains things Lol

Uruguay v Costa Rica was an unexpectedly good game. Love it when the underdog wins, ESPECIALLY against a team like Uruguay that's team doesn't seem to give a **** about getting yellow/red cards.

Nobody calls football soccer but the Yankees.

As far as watching the games, I saw the opening match, don't plan on seeing the rest.

The highlight of the opening match, and probably the entire tournament, was the host country scoring the first goal, an own goal.

Well, it seems England are up to their fine form of falling short of expectations even when those expectations are just to get out of the groupStraight

You expected too much, I'm surprised they even managed to get to Brazil without getting lost.
