YATAT - Yet Another Thread About Trolling

We've seen it time and time again; the rant thread about why these forums are this and that and why no one likes discussing things on here.

This post will contain no rants of the sort. It will contain three simple points:

1) The fact is many players hold the opinion that these forums are impossible to discuss anything on because the trolls/griefers/haters are never dealt with

3) It also happened yesterday. And the day before. It happens every day on here. Most importantly, it will happen again tomorrow.

1) that's nice for them. i also think that all criminals should just be shot instead of being put in prison. do you see how what people think, and what's a good idea and/or true are in no way related? (note; i don't actually think that, i was just making a point.)

oh no, i saw it, i read the thread earlier.

i also spent quite a while laughing at everyone blowing it so far out of proportion they were nearly ready to issue hurricane warnings and give it a name.

I posted the single idea I ever decided to share with you ignorant people right here in General Discussion. This is where the most opinionated and harsh people live. It survives that, its probably not that bad. First response was from some dude who didn't cut as ISD, but still wants to be one.

Whats more: My post got moved to some backwater forum called F&I!


Trolling occurs in any groupdiscussion. Its normally something like; "cos doing X will work" being said sarcastically.

Forums and anonymity removes a large part of the need to be polite. You're not in the same room, you don't know each other etc. Some still stick to it, others embrace their new "freedom" and let go of any pretense to be civilized.

If we move things the other way around;
Somebody you don't know, will likely never meet and whose existence influences yours in the very small way it does through EVE writes an "unkind" remark. Or even worse; goes off-topic....

If that's too much for posters, then most discussions will be out of their league. The rest of the adults will see a very large amount of cool responses and interesting replies. They will also accept that a mass amount of trolling may be in fact a way of telling "this is a bad post bro".

If you want to be told you're awesome and always right - talk to your friends.
