No my point is , it's too early to criticise, if anyone had words about a piece of mine at that early a stage I'd have (insert isd blush worthy content here).

I know you tabled it for discussion but ffs you get to finish the work before the neigh saying is warranted.
I'm not familiar with the style he's working on but he asked for comments and I gave mine. I'll change it when I see more, of course.

I get that, I'll apologise for coming down harsh on you.
However, given the nature of creativity you should keep it strictly constructive at the early stages, particularly when dealing with peers.

Edit for clarity: reason why overkill on criticisem early on bugs me is,
it effects the process of creativity by introducing UN necessary pressure
aside from whatever motivation you had in the first place.

No need for apology. Your criticism of my comment was constructive, just as my comment was constructive. I told him it looks like cat barf, you told me my comment was premature. I think you, me, and DaReaper have all benefited from this conversation. We shouldn't be apologizing, we should be shaking hands and patting each other on the back! :D

Looking forward to seeing the finished product. What's dicryllic glass? The only thing I know about glass crafting is from my hippy nephew, and he mostly makes things that facilitate enjoyable inhalation of the smoke of burned plants....

its glass that has different minerals and things in it to make it mm pretty is guess is the word. you cut shapes out of the sheets of glass and use a kiln to fuse them together. You can make plates, bowls, earrings, pendants, platters, etc. Nearly anything you want if you have a mold for it.
I'll post a few examples of my other things as well as the finished nyx when I get home.

That is some interesting toys you got there. This dichroic glass you have looks like a lot of fun to play with.

Now I still think it looks like cat barf, but there are some pretty types of glass used in this, such as that wonderful blue in the tailpiece and those iridescent-looming bits in the stars on the Star Trek one.

I think perhaps this glass doesn't lend itself so well to tech 1 ships, as they have a single color theme. I wonder how it would look if you were to make a multi-layer Widow - with the main portion in a dark and shiny blue or purple or any other eye-catching yet dark color you have (going for gorgeousness here, not accuracy) against a black background -- so most of the ship isn't sticking up from the background level, but then you melt on 2-3 contour pieces on the back, and finally an over-hanging tail piece that you get warm and soft, and stick it on but with something to support it while it hardens so it doesn't flop.

Then have brilliant red pieces for the red stripes.

And have it surrounded by blackness but with brilliant star bits like in the Star Trek one.

Edit: actually, it looks like it's pretty difficult to make the foreground a different type from the background. That works fine for a Widow! Make em both dark, but just use a slightly different dark type for the outline.

Edit edit: Might look even cooler if you could cut it out somehow and warm it to bend it into a bit of an angle along its spine so that the claws end up as the lowest bit.

yea i think i'll try a nyx again but in different colors. doing layers is a bit hard, but a widow might look great too
