You created a thread about your first PvP kill in eve...

and it was a miner...

and it was because you tricked him into thinking you were friendly.

When you kill something that shoots back at you (by yourself preferably), come back and post again. Then you'll see why you look like a bully and it doesn't look like real PvP.

It's literally akin to being a Platinum player, going hey, that bronze player wants to "PvP". So you go to him, tell him I can help you get better, then just smash his face in with a 10min push.

Learning how to stop hold 10min pushes is a core skill in starcraft. If you can hold an a 10min push (which is absolutely standard) then you are able to move into the late game with a tonne more confidence and skill. I'm pretty sure that in eve learning about danger and how to respond is key to. For the record btw I was messaged after by the miner and we discussed defence/attack and we both got a lot of learning out of it. You can sit there and pretend that pvp has have equal weapons between equally skilled opponents but the fact is sitting there in a miner without defending yourself at all (such as flying) is like heading into ladder, not making any units then getting upset you lost because your opponent made an army. It's an illogical position given that the premise of eve online is pvp content in a sandbox universe.

Seems like a lot of people are trying to layer perception onto reality and call it fact. Let's be clear. I'm bad at this game. I barely ever pvp and when I do, I generally fail.

That said, this seems relatively cut and dry to me. This scenario involves two humans. Both are playing a game. One player, acting within the mechanics set forth in the game, destroyed another. This is quite literally the definition of PvP. The inability of one of the participants to adequately respond to the other is immaterial.

The OPs intent, as I understand, was to notify others of his action and express the joy he experienced. Some of you responded with what I would consider appropriate comments. Then others decide that the OP "did it wrong." I fail to understand why your definition of "fun" must be his as well? Additionally, he states he compensated his target.

tl;dr: The nature of a target does not change the nature of PvP. The act of having a target is by definintion PvP, insofar as it equates to pointing a gun at someone.

Hey everyone, I just got my first kill in eve!

I joined eve to pvp after coming across a video on youtube and decided to try it out and OMG it's awesome! As soon as I felt confident I bee-lined straight for lowsec. It wasn't long before I found another new player mining without protection. I messaged him saying "hey let's fly together, we're both new" (it was a trick) and he told me where he was. Second I got there I blew him up. I gave him some isk after to replace his losses.

It was so much fun, I've never had such an adrenaline rush in a game before.

Now that you have popped your cherry, you are at the penultimate position of your EvE life. AWOXing. Google it, learn it, tell us all about it afterward.

Pre-fleet fight jitters, gotta love em. Eve gives you a couple of minutes to realize a nice fight is about to happen before it actually does, calm before the storm is epic, especially on teamspeak.
