I have removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them. As always I let some edge cases stay.
Please people, keep it on topic and above all civil!

The Rules:
4. Personal attacks are prohibited.

Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another forum user. Posts of this nature are not beneficial to the community spirit that CCP promote and as such they will not be tolerated.

5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

11. Discussion of forum moderation is prohibited.

The discussion of EVE Online forum moderation actions generally leads to flaming, trolling and baiting of our ISD CCL moderators. As such, this type of discussion is strictly prohibited under the forum rules. If you have questions regarding the actions of a moderator, please file a petition under the Community & Forums Category.

The only fight I arranged was one between two bums on the street by putting a goon bag precisely half way between them.

Without getting into the discussion about whether you should or should not have arranged fights, most people who live in w-space believe in their honor. If they make an agreement with you, they will stick to it. So if they agree to an arranged fight, they will honor the agreement. If they agree to a ransom, pull out your wallet or start singing.

I once thought there was something cool about arranged fights.

Turns out they only are if you take the oppurtunity for a quick gank and some juicy podkills.

My corp always honors ransoms and fights. My favorite was when a guy got trapped in our hole and we let him out after he paid the ransom of writing a dirty haiku for us. Then he asked if he could "hack our sites" and we even advised him jspace data/relic sites aren't exactly okay to do in a frigate.

On arranged fights, I'd rather have a ship-down arranged fight than no fight at all. I've had mixed success. Usually if they say they'll ship down, or ask us to, both sides hold their agreement and we get a nice fight out of it. Win or lose, it's fun and we always learn from it. There's been a few times where the other side has agreed to ship down, which really just meant building a massive T3 gang on the other side of a hole to come wreck us once the fight is on. Unfortunate, but hopefully we'll repay the favor one day.

Just last night we chased a group for a bit. They formed up to fight us but realized we were way to huge and had too much Logi, so they ran and POSed up. For us it was a matter of:
A. Watch them POS up and go back home without a fight.
B. Agree to leave half our crew out of the fight.
C. Agree to leave half the squad, then bring them in anyway, ensuring that we'll never get a fun fight out of that corp ever again.

I don't know, seems like the choice is obvious to me.
