My fellow Wormhole Capsuleers,

How much do you all value honoring ransoms and arranged fights? I feel that there is some integrity hidden deep inside some of these holes and I want to know what you all think about keeping one's words.

I hate arranged fights personally.

But ransoms or arrangements shall always be honored.

Honor them or risk **** off the wrong people, and wspace is not that big. Someone eventually is going to find you.

Bob Artis, you will be missed.

how the **** do you arrange fights in a space that is based upon random connections

also the first rule of ransom is aim high because they might be dumb enough to pay it.

I been kicked out of better homes than this.

Sometimes attached groups just want to fight and leveling the playing field brings fun fights. A little change from ganks.

Arranged fights are fine if you enjoy them. Some people have the attitude that an arranged fight is better than no fight at all, and that's cool, but personally in 99% of cases I would just roll away and find an actual fight. Arranged stuff is pretty pointless imo, especially if you arrange it to the point of 5v5 cruisers or something like that.

Arranged fights. Don't get me started on why this is so tasteless and contradictory to the nature of EVE. Nothing short of blasphemous.

But if I say I'm going to let you go for "x" isk, I will honor that. It's my word after all.

CCP ignore me please, I make too much sense.

Unless we as WH'ers are arranging a roam to all go out and **** in/roam known space. Arranging fights is #gayasfuck

But if you dont honor your Ransom your not gonna like living in WH's when you roll into the people that do (and believe me we will find out if you dont honor ransoms)

We always honor ransoms and have kicked a guy for not honoring something stupid in HS. But it doesn't mean you have to make a deal that needs to be honored, i would rather just pod them and be done. (Unless its an entertaining song ransom)

ransoms: if your dumb enough to pay, your dumb enough to lose that isk and your ship Big smile

honoring arranged fights: always. we had fun arranged 3v3s, 5v5s, 10+v10+s, and even arranged large t3 brawls from groups like Rolled Out and Probe Patrol.

Personally I love groups who we run into, that we can just poke and be like, hey wanna fight? they ping their players, we ping ours, sometimes we yolo capitals into their home system, sometimes they yolo into us. its a fun time for all! Sometimes they just cant get much for numbers (or dont have them in general) and we downgrade to t1 cruisers or frigates and just have a good time.

Those are also usually the first groups we contact for doing co-op fleets or batphoning if we got a group of capitals or some kinda situation that requires backup. We've had times were we're have a good fight with another WH group, to then afterwards fleet up with them and go roam null together. It's a weird screwed up community and i love it =)

Yeah there is a level of difference to "hey we rolled in are you guys up to it to the other extreme of we only have 5 can we do frigs, BC's and can we not pod" Rolling in and saying whats up can lead to some really great fights.

i do recall this occasion, when you all were in sky fighter, and didnt have the numbers for a big fight. a 5v5 frig fight happened

dont get me wrong, always would love a big brawl, but imo a 5v5 frig fight still more fun then sitting in a POS or staring at someone else sitting at a pos.

You won't ever see a Winthorp toon on a 5v5. I have sat around and waited for corpmates to have "arranged" fights and the last time it left a sour taste in the other peoples mouths and our comms got a "told you so" from me.

Switch off local blink, warp dictor, forget to see convos, shoot pod, collect corpse.

Any crisis of conscience instavoided.

If convo after " I was too busy trying to get all my chars on your pod to answer convos at the time" seems to work.

I've honored all my ransoms and even sang to get my pod out once.

As for the case of arranged fights - I have no qualm with them and tend to offer it to other parties when they know we're there and don't want to get blobbed in a fight. Eve has always been about a numbers game, but when you even out those numbers, the variability in what kind of fight you can have can change so much.

It's honestly like a mini alliance tournament round for me - I have only so many resources and little time to rally/fit/coordinate my forces all while trying to maximize my potential against an unknown opponent of similar resources. Though in the end, a fight is a fight regardless of how you see it, and that to me is enjoyable.

So when both sides have scouts watching each others fleets those aren't in some ways arranged?

I've had some great arranged fights, especially with smaller corps in lower class wormholes. Now arranged fights in c5/c6 space is almost impossible and most corps simply cannot be trusted to keep their word, even corps you thought were friends.

Rolled Out honors ransoms and we keep or word if an arranged fight is agreed to.

Imho all this "arranged fights are for pussies" is somewhat silly, especially since most fights - even those that are not deemed so - are in fact to some degree arranged.

While you might not lay out specific rules of engagements, the arrangement takes shape in the more general spirit of wormhole space in that once somebody has rolled into your home and demands a fight, you will honor the request. Now, usually that means that both parties will wait before engaging until a rough balance of power has been achieved. Sure sounds like an (unspoken) arrangement to me ... even if one side just goes all yolo-welp to provide some content.

If you can't be a good sport and appreciate the "5 vs 5 at the sun" it's your loss, really :)

(Other than that, ganks are no fights at all an can therefore not fit the definition.)

We usually only resort to arranged fights if its getting late and most of us are certain that after this Wh were calling it quits anyways.

It isnt uncommon to just toss in a " no podding" agreement and than dive in. Its less about the isk loss, and more just the hassle of needing to replace implants and get back in. But knowing I won't have to makes me care a lot less about jumping into the fire.
