Insurance purchase at undock causes unresponsive client

I ran into an issue where I was hastily attempting to purchase insurance before I undocked.

During the un-docking process, I accessed the insurance panel and selected the ship which brought up the insurance type selection. At this point the un-docking completed and my ship left the station. Outside the station I still had the insurance type selection panel available, so I selected Platinum and clicked OK. A loading panel appeared with a bar filling up left to right. Once this loading indicator reached 100% full, the panels did not go away. I was unable to access anything else in the EVE client, no movement, modules, etc. Closing the client was my only option.
