The Wire > Game of thrones.
And for those of you who haven't seen the Soprano's, you should.

From what I've seen so far, with the exception of the first book, the show is better anyhow.

That's actually good to know. I've been reading them from release, the delay with the last one really irked me. I stopped watching the TV series after season 1 too because they seemed to be tearing through the material too fast, and I was bothered it'd just end and need recasting later on. I prefer to just wait for seasons to be complete anyway then watch them in full (without ads/delays etc).

I'm pretty sure he has the broad strokes finished, you can see the major arcs. If he finishes it collaboratively with scriptwriters they may get to stop him from drifting off on a tangent of peripheral characters the way Jordan did. The last book certainly looked that way to me, I ended up skimming everyone but Tyrion, Jon and Danaerys just to tear through the plot.

That's amusing, since he doesn't even know the ending. I can find no mention or proof of this anywhere.

There may even be an 8th book.

Last year we went out to Santa Fe for a week to sit down with him [Martin] and just talk through where things are going, because we don’t know if we are going to catch up and where exactly that would be. If you know the ending, then you can lay the groundwork for it. And so we want to know how everything ends. We want to be able to set things up. So we just sat down with him and literally went through every character.

They may know how most characters turn out, and how situations play out. But nowhere does it say they specifically know the ending. Especially since it is not even written.

There was another article that I read, that didn't turn up in the Google search, that said GRRM "told them the ending". It was a profile on the show creators.

First of all I have to say. "Who cares"? As in, who cares about HBO or how many people watch their shows? I guess you do? How sad.

Secondly, I've understood a few of George's interviews. Not many, but a few. Never have I heard any mention of the ending of the series, and personally I doubt that he really knows the ending all too well. Having read most of the series, I feel he has dug a hole so deep with this story that he has no idea how to climb back out again; that is, he has no idea how to properly end this story. We shall see, and I hope he comes up with the proper brilliant endings that this story deserves, but that is a very tall order and I honestly doubt he can deliver.

Because if nobody is watching, it goes away immediately.

Why do you care what we care about ?????

How can you possibly know what all these people are thinking or what they know. You can't.

I am not completely sure, but I don't think any people can know what other people are thinking or what they know, aside from what they take at face value from the words they say.

Your first point doesn't make any sense either. It's all good though.
