I've met soooooo many military (current, reserve, ex and retired) and a bunch of emegency services/1st responder (police, fire, ems/medical) folks from different countries in my 7 years of playing EVE. I'd think it's different for everyone, but the things I do in eve are relaxing and let me blow off steam after a long day of being lied to by almost everyone I meet Cool

"no ossifer, therez not an ounce of blood in my alcohol system!!"

i can understand that.

though my question was more, is there something specific about EVE that helps you do that?

for me, being IT tech support, i have a great urge to physically harm users sometimes. EVE lets me blow stuff up and otherwise whizz in someone's cheerios in a safe way Twisted

In a few moments you will have an experience that will seem completely real. It will be the result of your subconscious fears transformed to your conscious awareness.

I can't speak for anyone else of course, each individual is different.

But yea, I work at a job that (despite what people think because they watch TV and see cops kicking ass and taking names) is VERY tightly constrained. Where as 100 years ago an American cop using lots of force wouldn't make people so much as blink, nowadays (in this age of everyone has a camera and their is a lawyer under every rock), a cop so much as using language that's slightly too harsh will get you into trouble and unto youtube lol.

(The mark of a great law enforcement career nowadays is being able to say "I've never been on youtube!" when you retire)

After a day of being fussed at by citizens (who didn't lock their cars or their houses and got robbed) for never being around when they needed them, or being asked "don't you have anything better to do than harass law abiding citizens?" by a guy who was doing 50 mph in an active (20mph) school zone while texting, hell yea blowing up internet spaceships is a release valve lol.

If people want to buy Hardware for their Internetspaceships from our company, they have to get past me.

They're all like "Yo, Imma wanna buy some PC's from U!"

And I'm all like "Hold it right there young boy, where's your grammar, where are you from, are you a terrorist?!"

And only if they pass several devious tests (legal status, attention span, electro conductivity, etc.) they may be allowed to buy our hardware. This time!

I'm just awesome like that. Cool

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Fighting back is more fun than not.

i like that the game allows me to shoot at people who annoy me, or who bring themselves into my sights through their own stupidity. since it's illegal to hurt such people otherwise, and no other game lets me slap people around with as much freedom. being limited to only shooting at a predefined enemy is annoying. sometimes my own side are dumbasses who i want to shoot! thus, EVE.

i'm a fan of that saying 'some people are only alive because it's illegal to kill them'

Avionics technician for an aircraft maker.......Basically installing all the equipment, software updates, performance testing and trouble shooting while the new plane is on the ground, before passing the keys to the test pilots that do the in flight tests, and if everything is ok, the plane goes to the finishing center where it's painted and all the interior installed at the taste and discretion of the final owner of the plane.

I'm mostly in the private jet sector of the company, but we do make planes with up to 150 seats......

Almost everyone I've met in EvE have either been ex military or some form of techy computery jobby thing.

I myself am a catalyst research scientist working on cleaner fuels technology.

all exciting stuff

If you've never tried PvP in EvE it's quite possible you've missed out on one of the greatest rushes available in modern gaming.
