Try with some Augmented Vespas (I'm in Gurista space) and they 3 shot cruisers, one shot most smaller stuff.

Anybody use the new Gila to run level 3/4 missions?

I dunno, I use my Gila for exploration. For a newbie running missions, I might suggest something like this:

LOWS
Shield Power Relay II
Drone Damage Amplifier x3

MEDIUMS
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Large Shield Extender II x3
EM Ward Field II (or whatever damage type the rats are shooting at you.)
10MN Afterburner

HIGHS
Rapid Light Missile Launcher II x4
Small Tractor Beam

RIGS
Medium Core Defense Field Purger II x3

DRONES
Valkyrie II x2
Infiltrator II x2
Vespa II x2
Hammerhead II x2

Use the missile launchers to take out frigates while directing the drones to attack larger targets. Orbit a beacon, can, or wreck with the afterburner turned on to mitigate incoming damage.

EDIT: Just put a Gila together with this fit and ran a lvl 4 Damsel in Distress. You won't be able to blitz the mission like you can in a Tengu but if you don't mind killing everything in a methodical fashion and minding triggers and whatnot, it works.

EDIT 2: Also tried lvl 4 Angel Extravaganza with this fit. Never went below 80% shields. Then I did the bonus room, took me down to 55% shields. This was with an explosive ward in place of the EM ward.

The Gila is definately living up to promise, I am using faction drones, and they rip through everything. They seem to hold up very well to damage and so long as they don't get webbed, you are fine, even then they seem to kill the webber ok and get out on their own.

This is a good ship and congratulations to CCP Rise and Fozzie.

The rattlesnake though is a different story........

Gila BPCs have gone from 110mil to around 230mil, the people who invested in them are having a field day.

The Gila has been changed. You lost the ability to field 5 sentries, 5 heavies, 5 mediums, 5 lights, 5 utility drones (ecm)...all of these in exchange for 500% bonus damage + health on medium drones and a 50% bonus damage to kin and therm missiles.

The GIla and the Ishtar's playstyle were too similar in many areas...That was before the buff to the ishtar. After the buff to the ishtar (which made it really effective as a close up brawler with ogres II flying around at 2.68km/sec doing 830 eft dps on 0.813 tracking) and the flexibility to field sentries, mediums and lights as situation dictates, the Ishtar was in a very good position.

Not so with the Gila, with no bonuses to drone utility (tracking or mwd speed), the GIla was a poor imitation of the ishtar. I think that was the reason for the changes. The ishtar and the gila needed to be different in terms of playstyle and effectiveness.

Well, the Gila now is a different beast to quote one of the posters on this thread. A true drone and missile hybrid. You can't rely solely on your drones anymore. You need to use the missile bonus.

But still, when looking at the ishtar buffs and looking at the gila buffs right now, i can't helped feeling that the gila got the short end of the stick....

gila's 2 hammerhead IIs with 4 dda = 664 dps, 3.28km/sec (one drone nav II), .696 tracking speed
gila's 4 HAMs with furies = 243 dps
ishtar 5 ogre IIs with 4 dda = 830 dps, 2.68km/sec (one drone nav II), 0.813 tracking speed (one omni tracking enhancer)
ishtar 4 200mm rail with jav = 177 dps

Very small differences in terms of paper performance but completely different playstyle now. RIP sniping Gila. Long live the GIla brawler!

Oh, the new GIla is a monster in pvp, not so much at pve...
