Scaling Star Brightness with Distance

This has been much discussed in the recent post on the new solar flare effects (https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=347947) but I would like to suggest here that a toggle be enabled to scale star luminosity with distance. it makes 0 sense that stars are the same apparent brightness whether your at 0.1 AU or 100 AU. At more than 50AU basically every sun should have started blending in to the background star-scape.

I think just setting the current brightness of stars to their brightness at 1AU and then having a linear scale with distance in both directions would be sufficient. That is, brightness and size would scale linearly from the solar flare effect to the "you are next to the sun" effect, and the same rate of (negative) growth should be seen as you move away from the sun. It would be cool if no matter what distance you are the new effects stayed in place so the sun would always be more animated than the background stars.

I'm suggesting a toggle because I understand some people like having the super-bright sun all the time

Thoughts?
