Posting in a CCP "I hope this sh*t works" or a pre-patch damage control thread.

We'll find out soon.

MMOindustry mega-expert CCP Loktofeit shot me a note saying "These threads are way too transparent. If ours doesn’t backfire, it will be the first. It also means our players are far stupider than your average [[REDACTED]] forumite." I took his words to heart so, in the interest of fullest transparency, a bit of explanation.

I started this thread because I was genuinely excited for Kronos as an EVE player--having been training some characters towards it for weeks. I did encourage devs (not encourage like "you might want to do this or I'll break your legs" mind you) to post in here if they felt moved to, but it certainly wasn't mandatory or any thing other than a simple email saying it might be cool to show some love to yourselves or others. Glad some of them shared in my excitement.

I think the world can use with a bit more positivity at the end of the day, both internally when everyone is hard at work getting ready to ship stuff and externally when new stuff is coming for people to play with. However, too much positivity does become disingenuous I agree, which is why we're not doing a full social media blitz, series of video interviews etc with "dev excitement" as the theme

The features, at the end of the day, speak for themselves. Here's hoping I don't have to do any post-patch damage control Shocked

Well jaded cynicism aside for a moment, both ccp's Sledgehammer and WhiteNoise Trash are noticeably excited about their input so I'm willing too get on board with thisBig smile

The Armor Resistance Phasing skill, which modifies the behavior of Reactive Armor Hardeners, now reduces cap need by 10% instead of 5%.

this is my favorite change.

Pick Three:

a) Because advertising is annoying

b) It might be awesome, it might not. But I can't be excited about something that has no direct effect to me and I cannot use.

c) When everyone says "This is good" or "This is bad", you should strive to be the one who asks, "Are you sure?"

d) Caldari

I fly typhoons, i like the new model, don't much care about the rest. (edit: i love all new ships and redesigns/skins, stations included)

But they aren't really advertising. it's not like we have an option to buy it or something.

And i agree with C

As for D, Glory to the State.

I love how polite, considerate and constructive CCP are - makes some of the player community look like a bunch of entitled jeb-ends.

Reassuring to see the people who make this game are actually personally invested in improving it.

Keep it up CCP.

I can get a reason why i am not excited : Omnidirectional Tracking Enhancers
these things will make drones even more stronger, and there is nothing to counter it like you have with turrest(tracking disruption only works if you do it on the drone, not the ship) not sure if this is changing aswel or not, but if it isnt could someone please look into us ?

Thanks,

What's that got to do with me liking Caldari?

And besides, sebiestors are most certainly not people

I for one am very excited for the lowsec additions. I plan on going Mordus hunting after the patch.

Likewise.

The best part is that also includes hunting people who are hunting the Mordu rats.

Think I might do it in a cloaked ship, wait til they engage the rat and then blast them and/or the wreck.

Surely you should wait until they've killed the rat?

I'm all about the eye candy, and there seems to be plenty of it.

Hey, look at it this way, even if you can't (or don't) use a lot of the new content yourself you will likely still be interacting with it one way or another at some point.

Hopefully in a "watch it die" way instead of a "please don't pod me" way. Smile

My god I have never seen a thread that has made me want to vomit so much.

Is this a new CCP strategy.. creating there own threads saying how fantastic the next update will be?

How about you release it and let us decide if its any good?

I mean seriously, to start your own threads saying how great its going to be is pretty damn desperate.

Yeah how inane of people to take pride in their work. It is almost like the devs here play this game and are excited to play with features they've spent countless hours working on.

Actually, the devs should be gloating. They've created an incredibly good set of changes and have done some very responsible things few game companies even think twice of doing--such as postponing features and reading literally hundreds of pages of player comments. In other MMOs I've posted upwards of a few thousand times in certain forums and have not once received dev replies, while in EVE I frequently get thoughtful replies to concerns or suggestions.
Think other game companies would spend time on stuff like audio customization, little big things like Karkur works on, and rebalancing of existing content? Nah, every other MMO simply pushes out new fluff, preferring to make old content obsolete rather than fixed, and they lack "gamer quality of life" in their vocabulary.

So, yeah, gloat the hell on CCP.

Ok this thread is starting to turn my stomach

It reminds me too much of when Games Workshop staffers have an eppy about their latest "finely crafted work of the model maker's art"

well unlike GW, ccp actually -does- like the game.

also unlike gw, they take the time to balance it. (but that's another thread).
