Just a quick note about The Tuskers: recruitment is currently completely closed. If/when we open it again, our recruitment requirements will likely go up and will be aimed at the more experienced player.

As for pirate academies, Heretics have one as well as Fla5hy Red. Can't offer you any first hand experience of either unfortunately though :(

Good luck though and if you need further info, feel free to contact me ingame.

While our recruitment is closed you can still join our public channel. It is a great place to ask questions and learn the art of solo pvp. You don't eve have to want to be a tusker to join it and we even accept spies in the channel and on our vent.

What Grog said holds true except for the spies part - we can't afford to lose our Battlecruiser/Frigate backbone!

Seriously though if anyone wants to learn how to pirate or get tips, our Public Channel is a good place to start. It contains our Vent details if you want to have a chat (or spy on our frigate roams!)

We dont really offer the same thing as tuskers to come join our TS but all pirate wannabes or current pirates are free to come join our Flashy Red lounge channel in game, though be warned we tend to have a weird sense of humor.

I don't know about Fla5hy Red's public channel but they are cool people to pew pew with and are friendly (whilst still being down and dirty pirate scumbags). Tuskers public channel is a great place to hang out, especially when it is more active, which seems to be fairly open but euro prime time. Furthermore if you are looking for another corp to consider getting help from there is the Black Rebel Rifter Club who are recruiting at the moment and may well take a newcomer under their wing.

In all honesty though, you don't actually need a corporation in order to get started in Piracy. A few basic skills, a reasonably fit Rifter / Merlin / Incursus / (maybe) Punisher and you are good to go. Even when you lose a fight you learn so much from it that it's well worthwhile.

Solo isn't for everyone and I don't expect people to go that route but it can be very rewarding (and equally frustrating!) but more importantly you will learn much more by soloing than you will by following someone else's orders. There's room for both in most peoples PVP activity and the best thing with getting comfortable soloing is you never have to sit around bored waiting for corp mates to log in.
