Scout drone operation & Combat drone operation both at 5?

So, in the upcoming patch they're removing scout and combat drone operation and introducing new skills in their place.

Apparently having one or the other of the two skills at 5th rank will grant the player 5th rank in both of the new skills. But what if you trained both skills to 5? Will you get one skill refunded?

Just some speculation.

EDIT: Apparently this is being discussed to death, pls ignore this post.

Combat Drone Operation will be split in 2 skills for light and medium drones, you will get both skills at the level you have Combat Drone Operation now.

Scout Drone Operation will be renamed to Drone Avionics.

My suggestion: Sell your pilot, better to have some isk than continuing with drones. At least Sentries are dead after the patch.

Wont sentry drones now benefit from skills which they did not before? Thereby bringing them back to speed.

combat drone ops splits to 2 new skills, at a level equal to the higher of combat drone ops or scout drone ops. several skills are renamed, and they change how t2 damage is calculated

Everyone here is wrong. Dev blog says:

If you have EITHER Combat Drone Op V OR Scout Drone Op V you'll receive the new skills BOTH at V. If you already have Combat AND Scout Drone at V, you get no additional "bonuses".

And if you think sentries will be dead, come on down to Black Rise :)

just a quick question.. I had Combat Drone Operation on 4 and after the patch, evedroid says I have only light drone operation on 4.. medium is listed as a "can train" skill..

is the app bugged or the patch didn't deliver both the skills?

It's probably an issue with the app. EVE Gate was screwed up for a short while after the patch, so I wouldn't worry until you log in and confirm.

I had scout drone at lvl 5 and combat drones at lvl4.

Got like 550.000 free skillpoints.

Seems abit odd, because the renamed skill grants free skillpoint to another (split)skill. But can't complain Big smile

No you didn't. You got 512,000 minus 45,255 for the skill already being to level 4, so you actually got 466,745 free skill points.

I had SDO to 5 and CDO only to level 3 and hence got 496,000 free sp, the maximum anyone could possibly gained would have been 512,000 minus level 1, nowhere near 550,000 though.

I had SD5 and CD5. I thought SD5 was renamed to Advanced Drone Avionics and that would be at 5 if we had SD5. Mines at lvl 3 now.
