Having Trouble Installing

I can't seem to get it to install the game.

All instructions I follow and workarounds I use seem to fail in the same way.

Wine version is 1.7.18

The issue presents itself on the "Extracting Files" stage of the installer. It takes quite some time and then fails by suggesting I do a "manual install" which I am already doing :/

Any help out there for me?

Without an error message it can be anything from out of hdd space to RAM failure, faulty download to incomplete wine installation, as you need to use winetricks to complete missing dlls and so on. pls also read the winehq page on EVE.

Otherwise use this:

http://community.eveonline.com/support/download/offline-installer/

If it still won't work extract both 7z's manually in any directory and run eve.exe from there or exefile.exe in the subdir "bin".

If this won't work, then run the repair.exe in that directory.

Thanks for the reply,

I wasn't getting any (relevant) error messages, even when I enabled various verbose methods.

I did however get it to install by using PlayOnLinux and letting it try to install about 4 or 5 times. Some kind of magic, or sympathy from the eve gods ???

PlayOnLinux seems to be using a 1.6 version of wine, so that may be it, but I'd doubt it.

wine 1.6 is pretty old in regards to eve. Better use a tested development release as of 1.7.19.

For additional dependencies check the howto section at:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=25823

You will need a few libraries installed with winetricks.
