Nice thread hijack for your little side conversation. Maybe CCP should implement a mail system for players to communicate in private.

I miss the content in OP. So this is an offical and open mail/conversatin thread.

Silly me! In that case...

Wat. I started in Apocrypha. I just drift a lot and don't do anything worth mentioning.

Bio Point #2: I am really bad at internet spaceships.

Dammit, I was quite content to just lurk in this thread, and then you went and linked that and brought me back to middle school. DAMN YOU FOR MAKING ME FEEL OLD!!!

Seriously though, good song P

Ok.. so I think my thread 'might' have been hijacked (sarcasm)

But in all seriousness I live in a third world place called the Ozark Mountains in Northern Arkansas. The best Internet connection I can get here is 1.5Mbps (with poor ping) so anything as simple as a windows update trying to download in the background can causes significant lag. I set the two files I found to 1 on priority and TS3 to 2. But what I'm wondering is if all of eve's network usage falls under "Eve.exe" or if there is a file I need to add to the list.

And to whoever said something about getting the wrong motherboard... I got a MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming... so.. yea pretty sure I got the right motherboard.

Dude, just install Eve, launch the game, and set the game's single process to high priority if that's what you're going for.

Honestly if your performance is poor to the point that you need to raise the priority of Eve, you purchased the wrong motherboard with the wrong socket.

Ah. You have no idea what e2200 is do you? It prioritized what programs using the internet. I can set my games to the highest priority and then if anything in the background tries to pull connection it will give my games priority..

In that case (as in pretty much all other cases as well), nothing you do on a NIC level will make any real difference — it's your ISP that is causing you problems. Again, just make sure you don't have any junk running in the background and turn off all kinds of auto-updates so you can trigger them manually when you intend to be away for a while.

You do understand that you can decide whether or not windows automatically download new updates? And yes, your motherbord looks like snake oil. My post might looks a bit rough, it is not directed at you but at the lies puts there by mobo marketing.

What looks fishy:
* (3x) gold plating -- useless
* OC Genie -- don't use that
* Optimized for multiple graphics cards -- if it weren't, it would be a ****** motherboard. Wouldn't it?
* Lucid Virtu MVP -- ?
* Military Class III components -- Yeah right. Those are not military class.
* The highest frag and the lowest lag with Killer™ E2200 -- (note the ™)

If all those things weren't so depressing, I would die of laughter. There is more, I just can't bring myself to continue reading. Most of the features of your motherboard are pure marketing BS.

Anyway, your network controller (Killer™ E2200) looks like a standard one, with no real advantages over the others except the software that comes along. If you notice an improvement, good for you. But it won't fix your networking issues by itself. I recon that it might help, but not in the way you think it will. It might be useful to allow you to download something while being able to play a multiplayer game, without drops in framerate. However, if you do not have a lot of bandwidth, this tech will not help you. You'll be better off closing or preventing any process that might download things.

And please, you're not in a third world place, you live in the USA. A third world citizen would hardly be able to buy a "MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming", let alone play eve online! There is a huge difference between your place and an actual third world "place".
