Your explanation as to why there isn't an official killboard is plausable, and very likely to be true.

This thread is now about the merits of having centralized, comprehensive kill data made available. It doesn't have to be a CCP killboard. It could be like a kill data dump API, which third-party tools can scrape. That would be preferable to getting the data via character APIs.

Someone go make a thread about doing this for market data, too.

You pretty much described what the entire API system more or less is at the moment. CCP makes player's API keys (which can include kills, deaths, and/or all other character information) available to them and players voluntarily submit them to their favorite kill boards (of which there is only 3 that I know of; Battleclinic, EVE-kill, and zKillboard).

And to my knowledge, there is market API data available but it is delayed to prevent wholesale market manipulation.

I would like to see an in-game kill board. Why not? I mean to me 3rd Party means, should be in the game to the point someone else built it

That's how it works now, yes. I'm suggesting that the aggregated data be made available without player consent.

The data on eve-central comes from APIs that players submit, too, I thought. I'm not clear on whether or not there is aggregated market data to scrape otherwise.

None of this has to be displayed in real-time. I'd just like it to be accurate and comprehensive. That kill mails can be verified now is great. That makes them accurate. Now they all just need to be displayed somewhere.
