Hi guys,

recently decided to train my alt for caps and as he has all the pre-reqs for all the races bar the racial skillbooks (eg Amarr dread or gall carrier) i was wondering if i could get some pointers as to the most desirable racial ships in each category.

The char will be sold in the near future so i'd like to optimise my time investment.

It has excellent drone skills which may push me towards a carrier, would've thought thanny/nyx probably but there seems to be a glut of them about atm.

Gunnery is kinda sucky, decent supports but would be a long time to perfect for even one race, on t2 meds and t1 large atm.

has excellent nav skills and also armour comps are all to 5 so think that will play a big role in the decision.

Would just like to know what youguys suggest.

thanks

atm i'm thinking either gall carriers or amarr dread/titans

I suggest that if you can't figure out yourself, from the information you gave us, which ones to train for, you should sell the character now.

...He is planning on selling it.

As far as what caps to train I honestly cant tell you what is best. End of the month they are redoing caps so what is best now, may change. I would say keep working on supporting skills.

For carrier go Amarr, for dread either Amarr or Gallente.

I would actually agree on this. I'm not sure the presumption that training to caps for that character would be the best/most profitable idea.

There are plenty of pure cap pilots available for sale but far fewer multi race capable sub cap pilots. I'd go for the gunnery skills, and T2 weapons and sell it then.

Having said all of that I would love to hear peoples opinions on the best cap ships of each type, though that might belong in Ships and modules.

Hard to say until the winter expansion.

Currently (my opinion):

* Carriers: Amarr > Gallente > Caldari >> Minmatar
* Dreads: Amarr > Gallente > Minmatar >> Caldari
* SC: Gallente > Amarr > Caldari > Minmatar
* Titan: Amarr > Gallente > Caldari > Minmatar

Amarr and Gallente are currently pretty good across the board, with Caldari and Minmatar battling over last place. Blink

Minmatar are getting a boost this winter, as are Gallente. Shield tanks (primarily Caldari) will be nerfed less than the armor tanks. The devs also seem wiling to consider a shield equivalent to the Slave implant set (and a armor equivalent of the Crystal implant set).

It will be interesting to see how this all pans out.

Hmm speaking of gallente caps, are the Moros weapons included in the hybrid buff?

No, but since the drones are being removed, and the Moros had a drone bonus, the ship is getting a turret bonus.

I've read that this will make the Moros the highest DPS dread, but at the expense of a great deal of capacitor (unless that too has been addressed already).

I suggest you read all of CCP Tallest's posts, particularly the ones in Balancing Feedback: Capital Ships
