CCP Y U NO ACCEPT BITCOIN?

Seriously though, with companies like Coinbase and Bitpay that will process bitcoin transactions with tiny fees and convert them to USD on the spot for you, why not? You accept credit cards. They cost more money to accept.

I would pay my subscription in bitcoin.

The companies he's talking about are transaction brokers. CCP would never actually have to accept bitcoins personally - they get paid in real money. The bitcoin transaction is strictly between the purchaser and, e.g., Coinbase.

If nobody ever suggested this again it would be too soon. Seriously, this forum doesn't have to be **** on with a million bad ideas every day.

The level of ignorance and toxicity on this forum is astounding. It makes me sad when I am reminded of the real reason New Eden bleeds new subs.

Its not like the bitcoin is getting support though. I googled this stuff. Even the US treasury is leaning to supportuing it (or so said a wiki). OFC...the US has shown such well founded fiscal policy in the past this is not a glaring endorsement lol.

OP....some people like money based on real value. When ccp gets my USD 15, they know rain or shine in some gold repository a little piece of a gold brick has it covered.

OP...eve is also global. Your bitcoin....is not globally accepted. Same wiki I read says Japan for example is just in stages of evaluating it. Kind of hard to have a payment base that does not apply worldwide. Quick check of major exhange rate sites is oddly enough not showing bitcoin as a convert to option. Here is the US paying in electronic money...and here is japan paying in cold hard yen to whatever currenctyccp bases on as bitcoin not even on the table here yet. Bit of a disparity there.

I agree as a general rule people don't know how to read.. it seems to me the OP was suggest a third party service provider that processes the bit coins to $. This is similar to how credit cards are currently processed. It's a good idea at first glance but might not be worth the cost to implement the system. Though it could be a good idea for a third party to sell GTC for bitcoins instead of $.

The US hasn't been on the Gold Standard in practice since 1971, and officially since 1976.

Its not money from "the man" I think is its draw. Maybe just me but I lost my rebel without a clue mindset long ago. The man takes...but he gives back. Well that and I am not rich enough to buy my own island and make my own rules lol so I play the game.

Funny bit from monty python and the life of brian very loosely quoted to show why I lost my rebel without a clue phase::

the romans have bled us dry...and what have they ever given us in return

Aquaduct, wine, roads, public order, sanitation, etc......

And my bad about the gold standard above. Whatever US bases on stll more stable. And recognized. I live oversears. I have made large purchases for stuff like cars in the 1000's of dollars. Lets just say how I get dollars to yen for this....its not digging imaginary money. I say 5000 USD to yen...this a smooth process. I say 5000 bitcoin to yen....nani desu ka? (what is it) and a odd look back is what I'd get.

Oh, not at all. I think most of us understood the difference between accepting an exchange service and accepting currency. I did at least. Which begs the question, if it's so easy to exchange, just do the exchange then pay in $.

We just wanted to mock Bitcoin anyway.

BC is a hack currency supported by anti-government loons and shady investors looking to make a quick buck. As long as it's unregulated, it's too volatile for any serious investment uses. If it becomes regulated, then it's functionally equivalent to any other government fiat currency.

So this thread is kinda like the Econ equivalent of tripping the kid on crutches. /popcorn

From a raw economic standpoint CCP can make more money by accepting bitcoin payments and using a merchant service like Bitpay or Coinbase to turn it into USD.

The fees for accepting Paypal and credit cards are HIGHER than these services. More people paying with bitcoin, even if it's instantly converted to USD, means more money in CCP's pocket. It's quite simple. I have no interest or intent to debate the merits of cryptocurrencies with video game avatars.

Why invest effort in setting up processes to accept Bitcoin when it could be gone in a month?

And where do you stop accepting cryptocurrency? Dogecoin?

If bitcoin can be converted to US currency, then convert it and pay your sub.

Why is this hard?

But, but I can't do it in one button click. I want my vapor money to be validated and accepted like a real boy.
