EVE freezes up when I hit ESC

Hey all,

Sorry if this issue has already been dealt with, but I have had no luck searching it out on these forums and Google.

Simply, when I hit ESC when the client is running, eve will freeze and lock up my entire computer. Even after alt-tabbing out, I cannot click on anything or access other programs, cannot access task manager. I have to sign out or restart in order to put eve out of its misery and get the rest of my computer back.

Moreover, I cant run the eve diagnostic program that the support people want me to run to diagnose the problem, because once the freeze occurs I can't get at any other programs.

Is anyone else experience this issue, or can direct me to a workaround?

Alienware X51 running Windows 8.0 64 bit
Nvidia Gforce 660
Intel i7 @ 3.4 GHz
16GB RAM
