It's been a while since my last post here.
Moreover it's been a while since my last log in into EVE :)

But here I go again.
Though I don't think that anyone knows me here :)

Is market speculation still alive?
Cause it seems to me that spreads have risen more than they should.
A lot of opportunity to trade a bit :)

As for general impressions, I think that market has shrinked greatly.
I mean Jita 4-4.
Not so many movements in isotopes, advanced materials anymore.

What is hot these days?

There is a patch in about a week. There will be patches (expansions) every 1.5-2 months from now on. There will be market effects for most of them.

Ice products and t2 stuff will be shaken up in the next patch or two.

Well,

Frankly speaking I do not see any dramatic changes in the prices.
As I said I'd been away for 4 years.
And I must say that 4 years ago prices were almost the same.

I do not remember all exact figures, but some t2 ships' prices are almost the same as they were long time ago.

Long period fluctuation is the way CCP holds the prices at the same level.
In some patch some things become more expensive, some others become cheaper and so on.

For example price of the hulk is the same as it was when I left the game. I left it in June 2010.
Now I return and see all the same figures for ferrogel and other advanced materials.
Btw in 2010 was a huge shift in prices when CCP changed amount of materials needed for the t2 ships.
Then there were insane shakes.

I think market speculation is rife. There are a LOT of changes expected over the next few months, and a number of aspects of Eve are being changed drastically including industry. Things will get pretty well shaken, and more or less everything will get effected.

The only issue for mere mortals like me is that I can never read the changes right, though others with much better understanding of the economy continue to thrive on speculation. Just give yourself a couple of months, and you'll be right in the thick of things.

Any colour you like.

No no no, you're completely wrong. Inflation is out of control, I know this for sure.

I read it in here every week!

well, Plex is not a bubble.
At least not the one that is made by players.

Some capsuleers here have posted facts that CCP officially monitors Plex market.
It is their obvious interest to make plex more expensive.

Why is it so?
Simple:
1. more expensive it is - less affordable for inner game purchases, hence more people spend real cash on the game.
2. more expensive it is - more people is willing to invest real money in game rather than trying to rip some isks from trading/manufacturing etc.

Actually there is some evidence that higher plex prices leads to the people that buy plex needing fewer and lower plex sales.

Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85
