if I had my time over again, French, German and Spanish or Greek

Spanish.

I used to go to New York every year on holiday, the ability to speak Spanish would have been an asset for me in Washington Heights.

Though I must say I do prefer a bit of Burgessian future-speak

Because I knew what she sang. It was a bit from the glorious Ninth, by Ludwig van."

So English then.

Have an upvote for that. Though looking at what the Americans are doing to the English language, for how much longer can it be called English?

In response to the OP:

Arabic. Love Egypt and would feel a lot more at home there if I could speak Arabic better than I do.

Probably Russian, or maybe get better at Japanese. I know enough Japanese to get in and out of trouble (2 years Navy in Yokosuka).

Of course Chinese (whatever dialect) would probably be great for the upcoming Global Battle Against Gold Farmers!

Japanese. No contest. I don't even care how useful it is for EvE, I am simply fascinated by Japanese culture, or at least ancient Japanese culture.

As for usefulness, hands down Russian would be the language to know for me.

Jovian.

Or, failing that, Aurignacian, or at the very least Proto-Nostratic.

I think that localization is a bad thing. Keeping English as the only language somehow keeps all players connected (excluding ppl using Russian lng).

Russian. I used to live in WH space for a while and whenever some Germans or whoever came in and poked around my hole I pretended to be Russian and they usually left pretty quick. Also, whenever I get in a fight with a fellow explorer it seems they are Russian more often than not. They'll fight me or steal from me even if they're not well matched against my ship. They're either crazy or stupid. Or just don't care. Then they type some of that chickenscratch in local and I try to google translate it but it doesn't make any sense. Last time google translate told me the Ruskie was calling me a skunk. What?

Also some of my favorite painters and classical composers were Russians. It would be cool to be able to read Russian language books on them, and read Russian authors in their original language.
