IMHO there are three main attributes as far as freighters go.

1. EHP - This rightfully goes to the gallente as they (almost?) always have the most hull on their ships
2. Speed - This rightfully goes to the minamtar as their ships are almost always the fastest
3. Cargo Space - This makes sense going to the caldari as their ships are almost always biggest and slowest out of the box

So what's left for the amarr? TBH I would be happy if they were 2nd best at all three... There is a place for the jack of all trades master of none in this race, so the stats would look as follows:

1. Fenrir - Best Speed (1), Smallest Cargo (4), Least EHP (4)
2. Obelisk - Second Slowest (3), Second Smallest Cargo (3), Most EHP (1)
3. Charon - Slowest (4), Largest Cargo (1), Second Least EHP (3)
4. Providence - Second Fastest (2), Second Largest Cargo (2), Second Most EHP (2)

Thoughts?

no.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

It would not change a lot for Providence Users, as it is already a Jack-of-all-trades. Cementing and improving on this position would be quite nice.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

There are, in fact, FOUR main attributes. That's the whole point of this post. EHP, Speed, Cargo Space, and Agility. Speed and Agility don't provide the same benefit overall and are not the same stat. Autopilot hauling gets a lot of benefit from speed and some from agility; manual hauling benefits solely from agility.

Four attributes, four freighters. Make Provi best-in-class at one of those four attributes.

Look, ironically enough, THIS WOULD BE A NERF to my hauling life. That alone should tell you something about the current state of things. As it is now, and post-Kronos, I will pick the Fenrir whether I want to haul autopilot or manual for any hisec load, ever, anywhere. Fenrir wins. That's not balance. With this change I might actually have to care which freighter I'm using.

(As an aside, I would love to see ALL combat ships re-balanced to break out the top agility race from the top speed race; it's stupid that they are coupled considering how important BOTH stats are. But whatever, separate topic :).
