I expect nothing to happen to plex prices, or any detectable fluctuations in subscriber numbers.

No one reads PC Gamer anymore. They have less than 100k subscribers worldwide, and a lot of those subscriptions are just residual. A ratty sentence in a shaded box on a page with a lot of other information listed isn't going to convince anyone to drop what they're doing and start a trial account.

Perhaps. But many who see that article and have not tried Eve will be tempted to do so. A MMO that beat World Of Warcraft and the new kid on the block Final Fantasy XIV must be worth a look at......

Have uhh... Have you looked at the FFXIV numbers?

How about ESO?

Infestation: Survivor stories is doing better than both... You know, that one game that used to go by the name The War Z. Got removed from Steam for being mostly unfinished, not having most of the features it advertised, a predatory business model and stealing art assets? Yeah. That game is gaining subscribers, both ESO and FFXIV are losing them hand over fist.

The MMO market is getting ********, and there is going to be some serious money lost before it turns around. Much more than ESO has already (and rightfully) lost.

I'm going to make a prediction and say that Eve won't be affected at all. It's been pretty unique in how it's just kind of sat off to the side in it's private little economic environment for a decade now and nothing is coming that could rock the boat.

2 games come to mind, One quite far off. On not as far.
Malcanis
Vanishing Point.
The Initiative.

Unless they bought that then I don't see how. Of all time? No frickin way.

WiS? flop

WoD? flop

Person using status at CCP's fanfest to condone harassment and suicide of players? gets slapped wrist

Erotica1 banned for doing something out of game? Unfair.

CCP employees showing favoritism to certain alliances/powerblocs

the list continues....

Of all time? No.

Deserves to be Top 10 but all time? Hardly!

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

What does any of that have to do with EVE the game?

I kickstarted both of those games and follow their progress closely.

Neither of them is going to be a direct competitor for Eve. They fill a completely different part of the market.

Or maybe I should put it this way....

People will not be quitting one to join the other in significant numbers, because the gameplay of these three titles is not iterative or a direct improvement over any other. They are 3 different experiences. Most people will be playing Eve for an Eve experience, which is wholly different than the experience of playing Elite: Dangerous, which is again wholly different from the experience of playing Star Citizen.

Cannibalization between these titles will largely be a consequence of players having a limited amount of free time to focus on them.

Are you a forum alt? Have you ever wondered why your experience on the forums is always so frustrating and unrewarding? This may help.

Well said sir, couldn't have put it better myself.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...

Alright, you know what? I'll let you ignore everything I previously said and give you the NUMBER ONE reason EvE Online is the best MMO of all time. Are you ready for it?

EvE Online is the best MMO of all time because: it's so good people actually pay $/€15 a month just to be able to complain about it! What other MMO developer can claim that their game is so good, people are willing to pay cash for the privilege of complaining to other paying customers? What other MMO is so awesome that even the people that hate the game can't resist subscribing to it?

Oh, and thank you for your continued funding of my entertainment. I really do love this game, and it's people like you that have helped to keep it around for 11 years. I'm really glad that you help to fund this game, since I only really found out about and started playing it just about a year ago. I hope that you'll continue to support my enjoyment of this game and that you'll continue to show others that EvE is so good, even the people that hate it are willing to pay for it.

Also just to add don't discuss bans in forum otherwise you'll get a decent thread locked and a slap on the wrist yourself.
