I'm going to chime in here, since I get asked this all the time. Usually in the form of: "Nav, why is your name so gay?"

OK, so it stems back to a game called Freelancer. I used to play on a freelancer server that held regular PVP tournaments among it's members.

One day I heard about an upcoming tourney, and checked out where it was supposed to be held in advance. The first thing I noticed was all these "Navigation Bouy's" on the scanner. Half as a joke, and half taking any edge I could gain in combat, I named a new character 'Navigation Boy' on the premise that it would confuse my opponents. Then I shipped up and entered the tourney. Lame little joke, and it would have been the end of it.

The problem is that I won the tournament.

So when the next tournament rolled around, and people asked me if Navigation Boy would be entering, I felt a little pressure to oblige. The more tournaments I won, the more attached to the name I became.

Eventually, when Eve was released, a good number of players from my Freelancer Server went and tried it out. I kept the name Navigation Boy because my friends knew that name, and because I really didn't think I'd be playing Eve for that long.

And here I am a decade later, still with the same lame name. Lol

PS: A Shout Out to anyone from old Browclops that stumbles on this thread!

I did toy with the idea of adding in an MLP or WoW reference .... but that extra bit just didn't look right.

Originally the name for my undead warlock (WoW). My middle name is Dalton, and I just kinda came up with Bane being the surname because it just sounded right to me.

This is my main account and character that i made when I was 14 years old, around 6 years ago.

I just made it up at random, I thought of Dorian because I remember hearing that name a few times and thought it was cool, and I made up Tormak because I wanted a cool sci-fi type name. I don't really love the name these days but it is what it is.

Holy Satanic Christ! This is a Goddamn Signature!

Long story short, I was young and needed the money... Lol
I'm still hoping CCP will one day introduce an option to change the name.

Nothing super fancy, no inside joke or anything. When I made this guy, I just looked up a lot of different French names (being Gallente and all) and put together a name that sounded good. :)

Many moons ago I watched this old western, which told an awesome story of a young gunfighter aiming to take over the top dog spot from an aging gunfighter ready to quit.

The young guy never gives his name and just says that he is nobody.

It is funny and has classical western themes. I loved the movie and thought the name "Nobody" would be a great character name.

"My Name Is Nobody"

-- Ever since then my first character in a game is always nobody.

Since the normal spelling is always taken, I went with a phonetic spelling instead.

Nobody is perfect.
My name is Nobaudee.
Therefore I am perfect.

Capsuleer Clouseau
#89 - 2014-06-03 23:06:56 UTC
This character is the New Eden namesake of the greatest detective the world had ever seen. Full dossier as follows:

FILE SUBJECT: Chief Capsuleer Clouseau

STATUS: Active

Clouseau's exploits in the Gallente fleet are legendary. Marked with chaos and destruction he largely causes himself, his ship to ship interactions usually lead to misfortune for himself and others. Regardless of his rather unique methodologies and questionable skillsets, Clouseau still manages to complete missions and collect bounties, even if this success is achieved entirely by accident. Despite his many failings, he is seemingly convinced that he is a brilliant space pilot destined to succeed and rise through the ranks of the Federation.

He is a patriotic Gallentian; his Federation is professedly his highest priority, though he is quick to champion the causes of the underdog. He has been prone to infatuation (which is often reciprocated) ever since being cuckolded by Angel Cartel pirate Sir Charles Phantom, the notorious Pink Lytton. He is repeatedly perplexed by transvestites, to the extent that he addresses them as "Sir or Madam".

Clouseau considers himself a cunning master of disguise, and he insists upon using elaborate costumes and aliases that range from the mundane (a Minmatar warpgate repairman) to the preposterous (a bucktoothed Caldari hunchback with an oversized nose). He uses these disguises to discover clues or obtain confessions, but usually these schemes fail miserably (foiling his own subterfuge or revealing his presence or identity), yet the objective somehow progresses and succeeds despite his incompetence. Some of his preferred pseudonyms include Professor Guy Gadbois, Antique Superstructure Authority from Caduceus and Andre Botot, Mustard Salesman from Jita.

Approach with caution.

This is going to be a thread-naught. You heard it here first! *mumbles* at page five*mumbles*Roll

I like redheads A LOT. I also like the name Pepper. So for me this way easy. I just let the name generator choose the last name. To be honest though.....this was supposed to be a temporary alt. Then i made a few posts and got a few likes and decided to keep her as my posting alt.

My main however has a lot more class. Sort of along the lines of a Cannibal Kane-esque kinda name. Supposed to generate a little fear per se when they read your name. Probably bullsh*t, but hey, whatever works right?

Other characters i have bought when i needed an OOC booster pilot or wanted to try some different aspect of the game and needed a specialized character.
