I'm bored!! I've done everything else in EVE: Missioning, trading, mining, industry-ing, etc. I want to do something new, and PvP sounds fun. I'm completely new to it, so I seek some advice.

I'm posting this here because I'm thinking about just going out into low or null and looking for a fight in my Taranis. When it comes to looking for a fight what should I watch out for? I want to make sure I don't get blobbed from attacking a lone frig or something.

I just don't know where to start. Help is appreciated.

Check out these guys: http://www.agony-unleashed.com/

I know some people who have been through their PVP Uni classes, and they come highly recommended. They'll teach you a lot in a few hours and take you on a roam that usually produces a lot of fights. You'll learn something, you'll have fun, you'll get blown up, and you'll probably make a few friends--if you aren't an idiot.

Frigate PvP is a good place to start because fights are so short that backup isn't usually an issue - especially when one party is in a taranis. I good place to start looking are the 2/10 lowsec plexes with gates (can find them on the starmap) - waiting inside one of them in a frig is a generally accepted way of signaling that you're looking for PvP, and if you sit 100k off the warpin point (past the accel gate) you'll have plenty of warning of backup coming in and can pick and choose your fights.

Otherwise, just hop around lowsec looking for frigs, when you find one, go in, overheat everything, take them out or die in style. Camps should rarely be an issue in a frig. Note: Taranii are fun, but if you have zero pvp experience you might want to start in something cheaper - the incursus and tristan can be flown much the same way while you're practicing the basics of safespotting, not warping to gate/stations with gcc (I still do this in frigs all the time) and dscanning.
