TL;DR what you're complaining about is totally legit as far as CCP are concerned, don't like it? Tough.

About the first bit, anyone can edit the official wiki and make changes although there are some locked threads that only certain people can edit.

Indeed they can, and if you click on the history tab you can see what revisions were made and when, as well as compare the original and revised content. It's pretty transparent in that respect.

Looking at the history for that particular article, the last revision was made around a year ago to take into account the Crimewatch 2.0 changes.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
