Desktop icon and program takes long to load

Recently (last month or so) my desktop shortcut to Eve does not load the game client and then I go to the directory and have to double-click the game many times for it eventually to load the launch screen.

I have tried using Administrator mode, etc,; makes no difference. There just seems to be a delay in the program's initialization.

Any solution to the problem (I could do a reboot in case there's something in memory slowing it?)??
