I'm sure being told that I have 227 liquid ozone a quarter inch above where it says I have 227 liquid ozone is long-term beneficial.
You might even convince me that I've always wanted my ship bonuses to appear in a giant text box when selecting ships that I want repaired in station.
Maybe I'll even learn to be grateful for these tooltips that tell me that this green tag means that character is in my corp, that the picture of the calculator in my Neocom actually means calculator, that clicking on a character's name opens character information, and that the market is for buying and selling things.

I'm very glad I can't accidentally turn them off because you see that would be very distressing.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

This is what I was referring to when I mentioned those people that can't see the benefit of changes.

Oh and I never knew that little x in the upper right corner of a window means close, thankfully it tells me immediately otherwise I'd panic having to wait for it.

I always wondered what that large A meant. Now at least it will always remind me it's the Autopilot.

Destination SkillQueue:- It's like assuming the Lions will ignore you in the Savannah, if you're small, fat and look helpless.

Why are people arguing with an obvious troll that isn't even trying very hard?

But seriously if you can't see why tooltips that display information which is some combination of irrelevant, redundant, unnecessary, or obtrusive might be irritating, particularly coupled with the fact that there's no option whatsoever to remove them, then it makes sense that you're the kind of stupid person they cater to.

CCP is stupid enough to think that we need these, so I wouldn't put it past some players to be stupid enough to believe the things he's saying.
Troll probably, but this kind of idiocy can't be allowed to fester regardless.

I can see just fine why it could be irritating, The fact that bittervets can't get past a minor inconvenience without throwing a temper tantrum is what I don't get. The tooltips as a whole will go a long ways to helping new players feel less lost, in turn making them more likely to stick around, meaning more bad newbros for you to bully, scam, victimize, and make fun of. But you're too busy complaining about the pea under your 17 mattresses to think and act rationally. You behave as if these little blips of text make it impossible for you to play EVE and they're going to cause EVE to die.

I think everyone agrees that some control over when/where the tootlips show up for those that don't need/want them would be a good idea, and will likely come around as CCP continues to work on them. I think intelligent people can agree that throwing a fit in the middle of walmart over them isn't doing anyone any good.

Except they said otherwise.

A significant portion of anger is directed at the fact that:

  • there was almost no warning that these changes were about to happen.
  • expanding on the above, there wasn't much of an opportunity to give feedback on these changes before they were pushed to TQ.
  • again expanding on the above, there wasn't much indication that there were changes to be tested on Sisi.
  • the changes were only pushed to half of the active accounts on sisi, meaning that many players who would have been inclined to give feedback couldn't.
  • CCP once again released a UI change that had significantly detrimental effects on player control without proper testing.
  • CCP only admitted after significant prodding that giving players the option of not displaying these tooltips was "not a strong contender".

And of course the displays of anger are also attributable to the fact that CCP doesn't seem to pay attention much until a significant number of people make such over-the-top displays.

ITT: People can no longer play EVE because tooltips. Tooltips are killing EVE, CCP, Please remove them before EVE dies due to overreaction and melodrama.

CCP Is wise not to pay attention to kids throwing temper tantrums. Throwing an even more over the top temper tantrum is a good reason why you don't deserve to be listened to.

People are sick of being CCP's beta testers on Tranquility. It goes beyond just the changes alone.

People are also fine with it.

People are also Into Bullying new players.

    People are also into Tofu.

People are into a lot of things, Any time you bring a large group of people together and makes changes, there will be people who don't like it. Stop acting like your viewpoint is the only one. It's what's referred to as being ignorant.

It was both. There was no accidental tooltip rollout. Intelligence is hard bro.

It wasn't both, at least not according to CCP Rise in his NPE presentation.

[Edit] And who mentioned an accidental Tooltip rollout?

[Edit 2] And resorting to insulting an opponent's intelligence is a sure sign of a failed argument.
