Who will be upgrading to DDR4 as soon as it releases to market later this year?

The specs are impressive (up to 4266 Million transfers per second) but I think i'll probably wait awhile. I'd like the price to go down and i'm not really ready to replace my mobo yet anyway.

Well, it's not an "upgrade" but a system replacement (not backwards compatible). Yeah, replace the mobo, but better off the whole system at that point... which is more or less what you are doing anyway.

Waiting. I'll take a large DRAM memory channel iSSD along with that order of fries (e.g. ULLtraDIMM SSD). Watching prices go down and integration performance/development go up.

Unfortunately, anything past the C64 has been plagued with bottlenecks. If they can manage to get everything up to memory bus speeds, the world would be a better place, daisies would bloom in the deserts.

I'm in it for the money

it'll be another 1.5 years before do a system replacement, dictated by each build receiving 1 triage hardware refresh mid-life.

I'm looking forward to this and other improvements in hardware, but I'm pretty sure my next build will be based on a server mobo, sporting 2 CPUs.

I seldom choose early adoption of new tech, I prefer to wait until it has gone through a few revisions and proven itself through maturity.

Memory bandwidth is rarely a bottleneck. In gaming situations that pretty much only happens when you use an integrated graphics chip. There will almost always be something more useful to upgrade than memory.

This as well as several other key components of my new workstation will be available this December.
The higher end of DDR3 RAM can run at 2Ghz and it is my understanding that DDR4 RAM will run at twice that. Keep in mind I am not talking about the stuff you get from newegg or bestbuy.

I can't wait to build this thing. Gone are the days of spending 10 grand on a custom PC only to have it be outdated in less than a year.
