It would be more convenient for those coming from NJ to be near the PATH but the per drink costs will be higher... I know the owner if a cool bar in the lower east side. Moscow 57. Live music. Good food and reasonable. You will save in drinks what you will spend in cab fare.

Bold action: how's Wednesday next week, for few hours after work? I get out around 6, but something from 5-8 or so would be great.

Suggesting Beer Authority (40th & 8th) for something between two major commuter hubs, but really down for anything in that general area.

First round's on me! Or at least the first round once I get there.

EDIT: woops missed the prior posts re:LES. Would be down for that on other nights for sure, just requires a bit more spousal clearance!

Seems in reading prior posts there is an issue with Saturdays. Suggestion. Why don't we set a standing meetup. Monthly, bimonthly, quarterly....whaterver. One on a saturday and one on a weekday. I live in the city so any day works really. As long as i know in advance. Would suggest this saturday however im trying to work out the details to go to the New England meetup in NH . Not sure if snyone here is going. If this sounds good give me a thumbs up.

Agreed. Say, monthly meetups, alternating weekends/weekdays? Something for everyone, both for the fortunate!

If no one objects, third Thursday and third Saturday of any month? Not really tied to the day of the week, but for whatever reason the third week never seems as busy for me.

I'll try to be at all the beginning weekday ones; if we set enough of a precedent hopefully it'll sort of just take off on its own.

With that, even month weekdays, odd month weekends? Next Thursday (8/21) is open for me. As much as I love & miss the LES (former Manhattanite), commuter hub locality is a priority since time is my major constraint. My first pick is Beer Authority for the purely selfish reason that it's right next to my commute point (and is large w/ rooftop), but it can get crowded. If anyone knows a decent place that's relatively deserted, I'm far from picky about the 'classiness' of it.

sounds like we have a plan!!!!! as i said before, a weekday will depend solely on the time as i work at 11pm... however, i can most definately make a saturday one.... as far as trying this month, at least for me i have my father coming into town on the 21st, so sadly i wouldnt be able to make it then, however lets see what we can do as far as getting other people to start coming, and as it was said, perhaps this will take off on its own! i look forward to meeting up with everyone as soon as we get details hammered down.... perhaps we could create a mailing or chat channel for this?

next wednesday could work for me as 5-8 time frame still ensures i can get back to jersey in time to make it to work, if there is enough of an interest....

If we're gonna get this going lets plan ahead and promote it. I'm booked solid this month but sm wide open for next. How about rotating weekday and saturday ... 2 weeks apart every month. Like first Saturday and 3rd Thurs every month starting in September. Just a suggestion on the days but if we separate the dates by 2 weeks i will get less grief from the wife lol

September works as a starting point. it gives us plenty of time to promote it to anyone we know in game and int he area.... i like the idea of the saturday and thursdays.... When would be a good time for the saturday and for the thursday?

Yes!! I'm gonna push for Moscow57 just cause I know the owners. But I have to be honest. Is a pain to get there anyway except cab. There is a good argument to be made for making it easier to get to and from by public transit. Midtown, the Village, Chelsea... there are alot of other areas easier to get to that have good venues.

Ok. Gonna make a suggestion... Rattle n Hum .. Its an upscale beer joint at Herald Square. Easy to get to and from. Rated one of the best bars in NYC. Any objections or counters? This is for the first Saturday. Not Thursday. I think we already decided the Biergarten.. right?
