Launcher won't validate/stalls. Repair tool is taking too long

Am i dense? Is there a big patch that everyone is downloading right now? Curious- our net is speedtesting @ 8mbps down - other things running fine/ no lag. But when i log tonight the launcher just has a gray bar, and once it validated to 4.6 % and timed out. but my net is fine/ great infact.
running repair tool, about 10 mins and only 464 / 735 kb...that should have taken just a few seconds.
anyone else having probs?
