Is this game just not for me?

(edit for clarity - I'm noob, but not so noob as to post with my main toon! The corp I am in is not npc, it is a real ppl corp)

I just don't understand this game.

I got angry and gave all my loot (liquid and asset) to a new recruit, again.

Here's what made angry,

1)

I was just running around null sec looking for wrecks/cargo, got killed, and clone-spawned back at base. Asked the tons of ppl in local to come back with me and kill the squad. Told them I'd pay 1mil SRP no matter what (expecting noobs to sign up en mass)...

Nothing.

Said I'd give 35 mil to one person to come get killed with me (thinking it would be enough for someone with some SP to afford a clone). Two ppl said yes - one was joking & the other backed out.

2)

The people that killed me earlier came by and camped the dock and the response was underwhelming. Of the tons of blues in local maybe 12 undocked. I can't understand why didn't they make of show of it? Clone costs? AFK? Trader alts?

3)

Later the corps' main enemy camped with a small tactical force - I can't help but wonder why they, our actual enemy, would bring such small force. Did they know the response would underwhelming no matter what?

Finally,
Around this time I saw in new recruit chat a new guy who had nothing except tutorial money/ships but seemed to have "let's undock and do something" attitude so I gave him everything and rage uninstalled.

tl;dr - nothing really happens except battles between hardcore vets? I don't seem to have a place in the game world...

Were you in highsec? Also people don't tend to trust random people asking around in local. I still can't understand your story though. What?

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!

You got angry because a bunch of people in local didn't want to hop onboard a pirate hunt?

If you want group PVP, corp up and I'm sure you'll find some like-minded friends.

everyone in local were blue/corp/alliance mates, sov space. Someone high ranking said I need to learn to accept ship losses - heck they paid for the ship, I got no problem with the loss. I just thought internet ship revenge would be what is called "content"

Then you're in the wrong kind of corp - or there's more to the story than evident. Smile

Do you mean the newbie starter corporation? As that's not really a "corporation" at all in the real sense. It's just where all new players get thrown when they start their time.

I don't think your situation is all that big to have had a rage-quit over. You got ganked, nobody wanted to come help you, and so you said **** it. If you respawn in a newbie system and ask all the other newbies to come to null (woah) to drop what they're doing, come help fight a faceless enemy for a stranger, for pocket-change, then I'm not surprised you got no takers. Most of the smarter pilots would have figured you're a trap of some kind and declined or just ignored you.

Take Tau Cabalander's advice - join a 'real' corp that's dedicated to helping new folk learn, fight and work together.

Edit: Ah, after reading your latest post I'm going to now assume it was actually a 'real' corp that you're in?

Depends what you lost I guess and the circumstance. If one of our pilots lost a frigate in nullsec, miles away, and wanted us to all drop what we're doing and come revenge the loss of his frigate or something we'd probably just giggle too. When you head out on such missions for yourself then you should be prepared to lose your ship and take responsibility for it. *shrug*

Now if one of our pilots lost a T3 ship, two jumps away, to some gate camp then sure we'd probably form up and go crash the camp.

I don't want to out my corp because they're good people as far Qs&As, ISK, free ships, and skill books go... but it really hasn't turned out quite as advertised as far as "content" goes...

You don't have to out them. Smile

But I think you maybe need to keep your loss in perspective, that's all. One pilot loses a single ship of small value deep in nullsec after deciding to fly off and do some stuff on his own, then expects the entire alliance to drop everything and form up a fleet to go and revenge this frigate/cruiser loss or something then yeah ... not many corps are going to do much more than shrug.

You're story sounded a bit disjointed, but I see three problems.

1. Don't do corp chat in local. Do corp chat in corp channel.
2. If the corp does not share your goals and motivations go find a different corp.
3. You are in an NPC corp, which is not a real corp. The people in the corp with you are not people that share your goals and interests, they are simply people that made the same race and bloodline as you. An NPC corp is more like staying in the same hotel as a bunch of random people, with guards at the front doors to keep the bad people away.

So you rage quit instead of dropping corp and looking for better one?

Thanks for taking time to talk with a noob,

idk, maybe I just a drama queen like the other poster suggested, but
It's just disappointing.
The amount of local blues were in the low triple digits, surely 5% could have afforded to come with and we would have collected tears and had "content" or whatev.

You're welcome! Smile

Reinstall sometime, then maybe try a different corp if some decent PVP action (and backup) is what you're looking for. The corps Tau suggested are excellent suggestions, among many others. Alternatively just stick with the corp you're in and just modify your expecations a little perhaps.

There's always the tried and true method of quietly accepting the kill, then watching and waiting patiently, biding your time, finally serving up solo revenge when the perpetrator least expects it. Over and over and over again.

Sounds to me like someone needs to watch the Causality trailer. It explains the appropriate manner in which to get revenge for the loss of a Merlin.

If stealing everything not bolted down isn't your style for some odd reason, suck it up, consider swapping corps, and start shooting stuff.

Sounds like a brief episode of nerd rage. It shall pass.

The game sounds like it's EXACTLY your type of game. Murderous rampages and revenge killings are indeed the cream of the content crop for Eve. You are probably just hanging out with the wrong people.

LOL, well I need to figure out the cliques and sub-groups within the corp I guess

Cliques in the npc corp are irrelevant. All NPC corps are are holding areas. Don't waste time trying to make the NPC corp work.

Those are not losses in your combat log. They are a list of pilots that will provide extra fun when you see them explode.

Ok assuming OP is not a troll, join a REAL player corporation that is hopefully not living in highsec. You claim you go to null so you have more balls than the average carebear. PVP corps are a good start or you can go to more established ones like eve uni or BNI.

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!
