OK, so Im fitting my Caldari ship with missiles, but it has that one or two extra high slot that is not a launcher hardpoint. What is a good mod to put there?

Depends on the ship, if it's a ship that supports drones then perhaps you may fit a Drone Link Augmentator I.

Depends on what you want to do.

Try a smartbomb for example.
Helps getting rid of nasty npc frigates around you.

You may want to clarify what you are using the ship to do before you get a whole bunch of hi slot suggestions

And iirc a probe launcher takes up a launcher slot?

For some reason, I was all ready to discuss the idea of ships having slots that are "extra high"....

If you have extra turret hardpoints on the missile boat, you can put gas harvesters there to.. uhm... inhale... uhm... yeah.

Nothing. Don't put something you don't need on the rack. Or if seldom used power it off.
Open slots or off-line modules function as a heat sink for the rack.

I'm in it for the money

This is sound advice. But considering the guy can't fit a T1 cruicer yet, I doubt he will be overheating anytime soon.

This is as nice as I get. Best quote ever https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4137165#post4137165

Hm? You can overload in a frig. As long as you have thermodynamics trained. It's more effective to heat sink between modules, but even an open end slot still dissipates some heat from the rack.
