EDIT :
I must confess a french dedicated forum is not such a good idea...
( cf my last post on this thread )

Will we have access to the french dedicated part of the forum before the official translation release ?

I was so happy to hear the french translation of EVE is coming soon !

Even if it's a bit late, this is clever move From CCP since there is a wide PC player base in France.

Futhermore, if you ever have experienced french red tape, then you know how much we love complex systems ;)

Infortunatly, if our national public education system has many good sides, it basically fails to teach foreign languages at higher levels.

French people usually can speak a basic english, but there is relatively few people who can speak english fluently.

The problem is the same with other langages by the way (german, spannish for the most part).

Merci beaucoup ( and fly safe ! )

Since French, Italian, Portugese and Spanish are all essentially degenerate forms of Latin, why not cut costs and increase community interaction by grouping them all together (not to mention making EVE look classy as hell) and have a Latin forum?

Ca va? Ca bien! and that except ordering life saving necessities like bread, beer and wine is all I recall from 1 year being taught French.

Being Dutch myself I see no problem for myself to read and write in EVE using English with some grammar/syntax errors here and there without getting lost in translation.

Why do you feel it's so important that you must write in your own language that so many others do not master?

One universe, one server, why not one language?

Seriously intrigued here.

Let's face it : EVE is hard to learn.

If you do not master english it's even harder (not impossible too...)

I'm convinced a lot of french people will enjoy this game once the translation will be done.

Then, when they will be familliar with EVE mecanics, I believe they will interact in game with other pilots in english.

I have to make a constant cognitive effort to decrypt EVE interface, and wikis and so on...

I really enjoy this game, but this is the reason why Ieft EVE about 1 year ago, after 1 or 2 month of subscription.

Why not one language? Well, why not indeed...

But if you refers to EVE lore background, humanity has been splitted during a long period, shattered in the universe.

So wide language distinctions between pilots can exists ( until they master the google translator skill lvl 5 at least Blink

I absolutely and totally agree with you! Why do some have the urge to solely speak or write in their own language.

Yes probably alot of french people will join or whenever a localisation is done but I doubt many will interact with other pilots in english. They join and stay because the game is in french and doing so they will join french corps. Why would you go interact in english then?

If you're going to play any mmo and can't speak some english you'll be limiting your game on how many people play of your own language. Some groups of french and mostly russian don't interact at all in english this limits also the gameplay of people who play in english while it is not their native language.

Why limit to only play in your language? This is just weird for the people who don't.
