Who to report?

The OP gets offended by a name in his native language which the majority of people won't get because its not in the language they speak. He insists that it should be reported and changed because it is offensive

He is informed that the name of his corp and alliance are offensive to a large number of people that speak English and his response is "I don't care because I don't understand the language enough to realize it's offensive".

Now he is insulting people because they don't think the offensive language they don't understand is important. Have I missed any of the hypocrisy here?

Yes, you're missing something. But that is not hypocrisy. It is the point.
- I didn't state I get offended and I didn't "insists that it should be reported and changed because it is offensive". I just said I needed an official. An assist...
- I didn't say I don't care about my corp name. I said I didn't know its meaning. I said any change about it won't affect me. And for your information, I liked their behavior. I would do (and did) the same.
- Please cite my insulting. Then ask yourself. Is it an insult? Or is it something that person put thyself in?
- I didn't need any confirmation or judging by any of the people that have spoken here and you.I asked question and I got answers.

Lucas, my issue is the "holier than thou" attitude. He got his answer, yet he persists. Even citing some randomness about hitting people with a car in comparison to a maybe-offensive name?

Eh.
What holier than though attitude? You immediately leapt in giving him ****, and he responded. Sure there's some pretty dodgy analogies being thrown around as usual, but what do you expect? Perhaps if you don;t like people responding like that you should just not troll them in the first place.

Firstly, regardless of language, if something offensive to someone they have the right to report it.
Secondly, it's not his corp, or his alliance, and when he says he doesn't care, I'm pretty sure he means he doesn't care if you report it (which was clearly being done out of spite anyway), not that he doesn't care if it offends you.

He said "He got his answer, yet he persists." But look at when he made his first post. People are coming here to judge me while I'm actually looking for an official. Yes, I will persist unless they stop judging without actually knowing what was going on.

The same way people stand up for people whose freedom is being assaulted by laws.

Uh, actually he stated it was a name that was offensive and asked where to report it. It was a simple questions with more than enough information for an answer.

Damn it man, are you really one of those guys? You know, the ones who think that they have some right not to be offended?

Let me let you guys in on why this pisses me off so much. We live in a pussified society where this seems to be the growing belief that anything that is even passively offensive to ANYONE must be illegal or abolished. I wasnt trolling in my first post. I play this game because it *used to be* a place where soft-feelings-hurt-easily-offended types were thrown out like so much of yesterdays trash. Now we are worried about hurting peoples feelings? Aww... did the player name offend you? Better report it. Is your other hobby reporting zoning code violations? Maybe ratting out that little girl's lemonade stand down the street to the IRS (or even better, the FDA!).

Seriously, why cant you just play the game?

Because, we are different. Everybody is different. We may disagree with each other. You got pissed of by me (I take it as a different kind of disagreement) I choose to report a bomb, who might blow someone up and decided to go to police to report it. That was about it. The title is "who to report". I don't have any other intentions. Just tried to learn who to report. Believe me, if I knew I would take this much heat, I simply would have tried harder. That was my mistake.

Yes, the subject is not to discuss it. It is neither wise, nor a correct action to reveal somebody's name which is about to be reported. A soon-to-be-gm-talk is not a kind of discussion that could be revealed in the forums.

You HATE people over silly videogame ****? Pretty harsh and more than a little ironic in the context of your post.

Actually, if it is read carefully, those people picked me with actually no reason. They were here to make fun of me, resulting one of their being deleted. I asked a question. That was it. There were actually no need to start a bar fight. They came, they join, they argue. I just watch and reply.

What I'm trying to understand is, why are they defending a possible offender without ever thinking that there might be an actual offense... I didn't need judges, I just needed a person who will point where can I find a responsible official.

Regardless, espousing hatred of someone because they disagree with you or troll your bad posts is pretty extreme.

If you call a law is unjust and broken, then your actions against it, will simply determine how hard the consequences you'll face.
You've to play by the book. You can choose not to, then you'll face the consequences of system.
If you want to change a rule, gather a very large supporter crowd, get elected, gather political force and change it. Trying to change it by other means will make you receive its consequences.

I'm not here to query a rule's justice. I was here to learn the referee, and I was shown.

No, I'm not one of "those guys", but I do understand that the structure is in place for people to report such things and it's up to CCP to decide if it's relevant or not. The guy asked for a simple piece of information and you trolled him. You had absolutely no reason to do so. If you didn't want to answer properly, then don't answer. He asked a simple question with a simple answer and you felt the need to instead hand over your uninformed opinion. I don't really care whether or not you think people should be able to report things they find offensive, CCP have deemed that you can, and have always stated that if you are unsure you should file a ticket. Now his got his answer, he can go to CCP and they can make their decision. Move on.
