Now I feel bad suggesting tooltips for NPE. Yes it does seem a bit disruptive..

Joffy Aulx-Gao for CSM. Fix links and OGB. Ban stabs from plexes. Fulfill karmic justice.

I agree with the above, we need a disable option!

No, this needs to go.

It removes incentive to remember things,
which creates inefficient, spoonfed players!

A disable option will still have it on by default for newbies.

I haven't checked through everything yet,
can again in a few hours,
but the outlook is horrible.

It makes people dumber!

The tooltips are great additions that will help new players find their way better. But some of them are annoying once you see them for the tenth time. The tooltips on the overview and in space get especially annoying.

It would be nice if we get options to disable certain tooltips, like the ones mentioned above. If not that, at least have the tooltips update things like range in realtime.

No.

It makes people dumber by removing needs to use the brain.

They don't add anything relevant at all if they are constantly there.

You only need to suffer for two more weeks. After that - no more spew containers.

This is just annoying. Fine for new players but by now I know what a stargate is I do not need to be told that again, and again, and again!

It's also immersion breaking, I'm not flying in space I'm flying in the middle of a god forsaken sea of tooltips!

Please, please, please give us an off option. What?

The "dumbing down" continues... time for the freshly minted CSM to make themselves useful, and get this stuff made optional.

On a positive note, this feature does add functionality where previously none had existed. Let me explain.

If you have moons brackets turned on, for example, sometimes there are so many moons that when you hover over it, previously the first 10 or 12 would be listed in a cascade taking up most of the display, and in no particular order. Now when you hover over brackets that have a lot of things "stacked" in one direction from your location in space, a nice, compact popup list now shows up. Not only are these brackets in some sort of sensible order now, but you can scroll through the lists. It makes it much, much easier to select objects by clicking on them in space when brackets are cluttered.

I haven't PvP'd since the new change, but from what I can see, I doubt this will have a negative influence. The new roll-over popups on the overview might be unnecessary for most people, but they also appear to be pretty unobtrusive, and should not affect one's ability to lock targets from the overview. Nor should it impact locking targets from the fleet broadcast window.

Seems like a good change, though I can understand why one might want to disable it.

Now if we could only restore the ability to disable WINDOW SNAP, that would be awesome.

Keep up the good work, CCP! Just please make these new features optional, or better yet - customizable.

Some people target using brackets, and the popup delay is messing with that horribly. Even more does it mess with one's ability to quickly get info by howering mouse over brackets.

The scrollable lists are nice, but pretty much everything else is bad: the font is too large, the info is redundant and useless, the fade effect - unnecessary, and all that is wrapped by a complete unability to customize any of it.

Just because you have no idea what I am talking about,
doesn't mean I have no idea what I am talking about.

This isn't just annoying or redundant.

Hey, what does this mean?
Oh cool the tooltip tells me.

....

Damn I forgot again what it was, but the tooltip tells me anyway.

The fact that information is always provided
teaches the mind that it's not necessary to remember it.

It *is* absolutely litterally making a person dumber.

Case in point: Phone numbers before mobile phones and now with mobile phones.

I'm passionate, yes. :p

Option to turn off or removal of new tooltips

Also CCP need to get someone with a more critical eye to look at changes before they come through

This one is very bad would say
