I admit that I have seen some weird things in the sky while on a boat while off shore fishing but my first thought was never space aliens.

It was just some metallic looking thing shining in the sunlight that was hovering in place for a while then disappeared. All I know was that it was not a civilian airplane or helicopter.

Probably just some fluke atmospheric distortion.

The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and refracted the light from Venus
