Then I salute you

Please let me know how it goes.

If you survive, lose very little, and dont spend all your time docked then I will send your CEO isk to provide you with a medal for it.

If you kill some WTs, Ill throw in a Ramona Bonus Prize

The current war is against a single player corp. They're flying a Proteus, a tech 3 cruiser. At my current skill level, with my current ships and equipment, I'd be lucky to chip the paint on that thing. That said, I won't be spending any more of my time docked then normal. Since its a single player corp, I just added him to my watchlist, and if he pops up, I'll immediately change systems, to one more out of the way, so I can more easily see if he shows up on local.

Ok, well Ill still send the funds to your CEO for a medal if you do go about your regular business and not let the bastich grind you to dust.

If your Corp gets together and gets him, you still win a Ramona Bonus Prize for getting on the KM :D

Check their corp member count frequently. It is not uncommon to bring players in during a war to fool someone into a false sense of security. Eve currently does not allow a member to leave and rejoin a corp during a war, so you are protected against someone doing that rapid fire, but they can do it once.

Most people who war dec are trying to pad their kill boards, pickup high valued drops, or just enjoy upsetting others. As a newer player you are less likely to be hunted for the first 2 reasons. When I see a young player war target online, I am not likely to even waste a locator agent on them, it would only take a shot if I happened to run into them.

You should also learn the to rapidly warp your pod away.

Once you realize the fight is a lost cause (as a young player, that is as soon as you are scrammed), select something warpable from your overview (a station or star gate) and start spamming the S button on your keyboard. S is the hotkey for warp, so as soon as your ship pops the pop will receive a warp command. A pod can get to warp in about a second, which is less time than most ships take to lock.

3 things to remember...
Make sure the station or gate you select is not the one you are sitting next to, or you will not warp.
Always try to warp, never try to jump or dock. There is a 10 sec session change timer after losing a ship, that will prevent you from docking or jumping.
Also, if you fired back, you will have a 60 second timer before you can dock or jump, start bouncing around until the timer runs out (warping to planets will help prevent you from warping to the enemy by mistake).

If you know you can't win a fight and there is no one else on grid you might be helping, it is better not to fire at all, that way you don't get a weapons timer. For the same reason, setting drones to Passive will prevent them from auto-engaging.

Well, you have a couple of options in this case.

First of all, if you have even more more player in the corp willing to make a stand, you can potentially win.

First off, the prot tends to be used as a blaster boat, i.e. close range. If you have a ship that can keep him pointed (warp disruptor with 20km+ range) you can keep him from escaping while not letting him hit you (keping about 15km away from him). Sure you'll only scratch off the paint at first, but you'll slowly scratch your way into his structure. However, if he loads long range ammo, you might be in trouble.

Second, if you have even one corpmate willing to help, your option increase hugely. A blackbird fitted with all Gallente jammers could potentially keep the guy locked down and unable to target anything for the entire fight, letting you fit a close range setup with more DPS to scratch all the harder. Energy neutralizers can help shut down his guns as well as any tank he has running.

Once you've got him on the ropes, then you want to make sure he doesn't escape. Scrams/disruptors and webs are obvious, but also be wary of engaging on stargates. Aggression timers mean you can't jump or dock within 1 minute of using an aggressive module on another player. If he can tank you for a minute (likely) he could just deagress and dodge through the gate, so try to set a trap for him if you can. And of course, the same principle applies to you as well: if you're both sitting on a gate and he fires on you and you don't return the favor, you can jump through the gate to escape.
