Mobile gaming data is the best kind of data.

Mobile gaming data is the best kind of data. Well,.... maybe.

Mobile is burning, and free-to-play binds the hands of devs who want to help, and here the most interesting part.

"Recent data shows 20 percent of mobile games get opened once and never again. 66 percent have never played beyond the first 24 hours and indeed most purchases happen in the first week of play. Amazingly only around two to three percent of gamers pay anything at all for games, and even more hair-raising is the fact that 50 percent of all revenue comes from just 0.2 percent of players."

Most of the f2p mobile games are junk. ~90% of mine are paid. The ~10% are either 100% free indie games and/or open source. Games like: (in no particular order) pewpew 1&2, 10000000, knights of pen and paper, Ravensword, Minecraft PE, Chess free, free solitaire, lots more. Same goes for PC but a little greater % of open source. Good mobile games are only like a couple bucks...

Having 3 tablets and 2 smartphones in my house , only games I ever play on them have been deleted soon afterwards, my wife plays some on her tablet but honestly, the business model is done for that tiny percentage.

I think I remember someone once telling me you needed like +-5% of people paying for most services to make them "free" for the rest of the 95%, or something along those lines.

So your data seems somewhat OK in my mind.

Problem I think comes from people that scream " TABLETS ARE THE FUTURE OMGWOWZOMBIEPOCALYPSESTRAWBERRYUNICORNSSSSS" , those are the ones ruining themselves and others into oblivion, poverty and unemployment.

Considering the fact of the PC vs Console debacle, we now have these "Visioneers" of Dullness pretending to force everybody into mini games of mind melting numbing of the Cerebral Cortex.

That´s my take on the issue. Hence why I support crowdfunding for PC Gaming, despite all of its flaws, of which it has many, it´s still an outlet for people wanting to avoid the Strawberry Unicorn Zombies trend.

Even if OCULUS ends up being primarily a form of Facebook stalking of people , if it can still be used efficiently and cheaply in the future for PC gaming I´m ok with that.

These days I try to support PC Gaming and PC Indy Devs, they are the ones struggling, for all I care, tablet developers can grow out of my field of vision for eternity, unless they help new techs that can be used directly into PC Gaming.

And this is sheer truth:

Quote:
The problem is more general, that taken as a whole the games industry is making mobile games that nobody cares about available to millions of players for nothing. Free-to-play producers chime that quality levels are obviously fine, "If it's making money it's objectively good, see?" Well no, not quite, **** sells by the ton every day. In the real world Burger King doesn't get three Michelin stars. Burger King gets to be happy with its revenue not its reviews, and our industry’s inability to see the difference will only pull us further into our creative vacuum.

I have found Parallel Kingdom to be one of my favorite games of all time. It is the mobile version of EvE. Sadly it is ending its life
:-(

It is a land conquest game that is played on Goggle Maps. It involves war, espionage, crafting, exploration, destruction of most everything that is crafted.

BG is so dated. 2 is still great. But the lack of town map reveal with pre done notes on reveal is so annoying.
