Yep, PC crapolla. Just like I don't give a crud how many women they cast for star wars VII. Or why do I care what Nintendo does, that's their business. Even the NAACP can say stupid stuff if they want, as long as they don't shout fire in a movie theater. Say what you want, just remember, you can only have my gun when you pry it from my cold dead hand.

So, you would have been OK if the miniseries "Roots" had an all white cast in black-face ??

Is there something wrong with that?

Edit: Other than the idea being around 100% stupid.

Political Correctness has gone so wild that you now have to stand at least 100m away when protesting a funeral of a dead solider with religious placards.

Anyone who makes a "commotion" based on spurious religious beliefs against a fallen soldier who fought for their lives needs 2 options: Immediate drafting to the front lines, or summary execution. End of story.

This is not political correctness. This is dignity and the rights of the family during a tragic time.

Let's see how you feel if they start doing this at weddings.....and decide to come to yours.

Just seems like Mel Brooks is trying to stay relevant (and failing). I love Blazing Saddles and History of the World, Part 1 as much as anyone but we have plenty offensive and compelling films to watch. And Richard Pryor is hilarious, but we also have many comedians in this day and age that are equally as or more funny.

I see the word "political correctness" being thrown around in the thread. Maybe you guys can come out and say exactly what you mean. There are certain things that aren't acceptable in this day and age. That is a good thing. It means our society is evolving.

I sure as hell wouldn't want to revert back to decades past. It would be hell.

Edit: I think there's a *more* important discussion we should be having about why modern action films don't measure up to classics like Robocop (isn't it amazing how violent it was?) and Schwarzenegger's action flicks in his heyday.

Because of this:

"Of course, Hollywood initially could care less. Applying the ‘infant’ ideal to their blockbuster entertainment, they have quickly recognized that international audiences really don’t require a lot of depth and detail in their popcorn past times.

"Instead, foreign markets apparently want brightly colored objects moving rapidly in front of their faces, just like infants do. This is not meant to diminish the importance of such box office returns or to slander an entire population, but minimal dialogue and maximum eye candy have taken several questionable properties far into the billion dollar stratosphere.

"This, in turn, has caused the fanboy voice to become even more aggressive and shrill. Filled with a sense of entitlement that only a few decades of dedicated comic book collecting (or film going) can create, they now insist on indirectly determining the make-up of these movies by their grating group speak approach, in defiance of current business model which has Tinsel Town rolling in the bucks."

"It’s all becoming too much. You can already feel the glut. In 2014, audiences will revisit the X-Men, have already seen what Captain America and Spidey can do, and there’s the Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as other possibilities being shuffled around, and things only get worse in 2015. With Marvel making plans for the next decade and a half (!) and DC determined to catch-up, the situation will hit maximum density before long, resulting in an even bigger backlash than the one we’re seeing now. "

Lol. Come on son. Just fess up. A white dude can't play a black dude? That's the heart of racism. Like saying a white man can't say the N-word.

What is political correct, socially acceptable and/or morally justifiable depends highly on cultural background, political system, belief system, etcetera *) of the geological location you are in.
For example, what is political correct in the USA can be quite different from the same thing in Russia, Japan or on Tristan da Cunha for that matter.

As a discussion like this inevitably leads to a discussion on real life politics, flaming and personal attacks, this thread gets a lock.

*) among many other possible factors.
