So I, maybe by chance, got an email from some game ...... ok I hope its fine to talk about other games and not get banned or something ..... So I play gw2 and was invited to play wildfart, which seems like another silly copy of wou, but said "ok maybe, I will check the website, see what it shows" so I go to the website and you have your typical stuff menus and just like any other game website, so I click on game menu which has things like race, classes, features, you know typical mmo stuff.

But in the features I notice something is odd as it says "Business Model" and I think "what the heck does a childish game like wildfart has to do with a business model related to its core gaming features?" ..... so I click to see, and BAM! Guess what? They have a very innovative in-game magical item called C.R.E.D.D. which you can buy with in-game currency to continue your subscription as an option to just paying cash ....... You can also buy CREDD with cash to get in-game currency ....... HAHAHA LOL ................ TROLOLOL HUHAHEHOHIAAU! What the heck is this joke!? They think they will have an in-game economy and system like us in eve! Do they have any idea how many factors are there to have such a balance as to make an ingame subscription a success? I dont know about you people but I find this hilarious because they couldnt even make a name that DID NOT sound like PLEX lol

I dont know about that, what do you guys think. I personally just found this very funny, I mean we are talking about a game aimed at 12 year olds or something. Oh, and I have never heard about such a goal with any other game that has been a success like our plex system and ingame free economy, but then I am not a hardcore supergamer so yeah, there could be a couple, even good ones, but I doubt it.

Good luck to them. I hope the game is successful for the developers and enjoyable for the community that plays it.

Wurm Online has been allowing players to pay with ingame currency for years. Runescape too, for 1 or 2 anyhow. This is nothing new.

Thread has been moved to Out of Pod Experience.

Also, GW2 copies the PLEX/Aurum model with their "gems", which can be traded for gold, or for appearance/convenience items in the shop. I think they even explicitly mentioned PLEX as an inspiration for the system in a devblog a while back.

Title made me think someone had found a way to copy Plexes ingame (i.e. a BPO). Disappointed.

But yeah GW2 definitely referenced Plex as a model for their economy at some point.

Good thing all the other MMO's have destructible assets which somewhat keep the in-game currency from not inflating 1000% every time an expansion is introduced.

Eve has been dying since 2003

I refuse on principle to buy a game that CHARGES FOR THE CLIENT AND THEN A MONTHLY FEE.

What century is this? the 20th Century?
