Mining Drones

They are too slow to catch up to a venture that is using an AB.

Possible solutions
1) Make them faster
2) Make Ventures slower
3) Make asteroids smaller so they are always close whilst I orbit.

Why are you orbiting an asteroid from far away in your venture? If it's to mitigate/tank rats shooting at you, get rid of the mining drones, and fit damage drones. That way at least you'll be able to kill the rats, and get some small amount of isk, and sec status from that.

Making the venture slower is a TERRIBLE approach to a non-problem, something you could remedy by throttling down your venture. Or, you could, you know, orbit closer to the asteroid.

have to agree. Mining drones are useless in almost every situation. Fit damage drones kill your annoying rats setup on your roid area with a clear line to the station. Point the nose of your ship that way and sit still. Something scares you tunr mwd/ab on clcik align to station cycle mwd/ab off and warp

Its not a matter of orbiting an asteroid at a long range. If is a large one, you cover a lot of ground in the process. Making the venture slower was a joke, though maybe it was not as easily noticeable as I had hoped to make it.

The point is I shouldn't HAVE to fit damage drones if I can tank them with a passive tank and using AB and sig to stay alive. With a mining drone rig, mining drones can give you a massive increase to yield. Just two of them with the right skills will give you more than a miner II.

Even an AB skiff is faster than mining drones. I shouldn't HAVE to sit still not moving for mining drones to work well. I should be able to keep moving to make myself less of a target.

They are giving drones a lot of love this upcoming patch, but they seem to have forgotten these little bastards in the process :( They've done all kinds of changes to how mining is done, but haven't updated the drones to match

I still don't get the point of a Venture/Prospect. 5k hold isn't big enough to bother with unless you enjoy flying to a station every 5-10 minutes.

10k hold on the prospect is worthless for ninja mining (which is seems the prospect is geared towards) A full hold of the most valuable ore is maybe worth 2-3 mill?

That awkward moment at the Gentlemen's Club when you see your sister on the stage....and you're not sure where to put the money....

if u mine mercoxite it should be around 4M
but i think more important for ninja miners is gas and there i dont have any idea about its worth.

Just in my 15 minutes of research. A perfect skilled Prospect will get 125m3 of gas per 40 seconds. taking 54 minutes to fill its 10km3 ore hold.

The gas in highsec is worth max 3.5 mill per 10,000m3
Lowsec/null max 80mill per 10,000m3
WH max 30mill per 10,000m3

At least with just some random gas price checking and no real in-depth research.

That awkward moment at the Gentlemen's Club when you see your sister on the stage....and you're not sure where to put the money....

Usually, in wormhole space, people will try and get C320 and C540, which are worth a lot more than the numbers you've put up. A small fleet of Ventures alone can almost clean out a vital reservoir before the sleepers show up, so I imagine that the Prospect will be even more efficient in cleaning out those gas sites.

The venture (and, when it's available, the prospect) are by far the best options for gas harvesting, since there aren't any other ships with an ore bay that can fit 5 effective gas harvesters.

I would like to see faster drones in general but everything is balanced to PVP. WIth one exception drones are broken for PVE. I don't expect this to change anytime soon.
